Knowledgeable staff, very reasonably priced refreshments, good time all around. Inexpensive way to spend two hours on the water.

I was in Charleston on business and most attractions were closed by 5pm. Thanks for offering the sunset sail--the best 2 hours I spent in Charleston!

We spent a relaxing and enjoyable evening! Sail was not narrated, but crew was friendly and willing to talk and answer questions about the sights and the area.

My husband and I took this sail/cruise in late June. It was a hot day, however we sailed in the evening and it was perfect weather. We had never sailed before. We enjoyed it very much and found the crew to very friendly and experienced. The captain told us we would go as far out in the harbor as the current tide and wind would take us and still allow us to be back within our 2 hr. time frame. We didn't make it to Ft. Sumter, but could see it easily. He used the engine to get us well out into the harbor (which allowed us to go a little farther out) and then I got to help hoist one of the sails...fun! After the engine was off, he turned on some soft music, not too loud, so it didn't disrupt the peacefulness. Drinks were available at a very reasonable price. I was a little disappointed that we didn't see dolphins, but that, of course, is not within the crew's control. Thanks for a fun and romantic evening !

We really enjoyed our afternoon sail. The crew was friendly and very helpful. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys sailing or just being out on the water. I think the next time we will try the sunset cruise.

Not as Expected

The schooner and crew were nice, but seemed expensive just to ride to nowhere and not get any histoy unless asked. Once onboard we were told their would be no narration. I believe the advertisement stated the Pride went close to Fort Sumter. We could barely see the fort in the distance. They do state each sail is different and I must say there was no wind on our sunset sail, so this may have hindered the captain some. The sail was still enjoyable and relaxing. And again the crew was friendly and knowledgable when asked.

Not Worth the Money

Having taken previous trips on the Schooner Pride and thoroughly enjoying them, I was very disappointed with the recent cruise. When before we sailed or motored around the harbor, viewing many areas, this time all we did was motor straight out from the wharf past Castle Pinckney and turned around and then aimlessly drifted for the rest of our "2 hour cruise". We then motored back to the wharf. Since this trip was an anniversary present to my sister and her husband, I kept apologizing for choosing the wrong gift. I hope that their impression of what Charleston has to offer was not diminished by this experience. In all honesty, when once I sang the praises of a cruise on the Schooner Pride, my observation now would be "don't waste your money".

My husband and I went on the sunset cruise to celebrate my 35th birthday. My only negative was that I wished we had gone further out in the harbor than we did but other than that it was beautiful and peaceful. I have already recommended this trip to several friends and family for the next time they are in Charleston. The sunset was gorgeous the night we went and we were able to take some awesome pics of it because we were on the water. We did not get to see any dolphins though. The crew on the boat were great and very friendly and answered any questions anyone had about what they were seeing.

The cruise part of the sail was nice, but when the motor stopped and the sails went up, it was more like sitting and drifting rather than sailing. Captain and crew very curteous and helpful. But, would suggest keeping motor going if lack of wind keeps boat just sitting there...I'd rather move around and see more things than just drift, but I do understand the Pride doesn't control the winds. Also, it would have been nice to see the crew perhaps direct seating a bit because we had a group of 9 and hardly any of us got to sit together, so that was a bit of a bummer.

The sunset sail was a perfect romantic trip for my girlfriend while we were down in Charleston. The sail was timed perfectly so that as the boat was coming in we were able to see the sunset over the city of Charleston.

Lucked out with great weather, nice breeze, no rain, and great crew. Helpful, fun, easy going, not in your face. Pleasure to tip them and would do it again with family or friends in town.
