Really enjoyed our first sailing experience. Appreciated how the crew explained the process of sailing and how they shared their knowledge of the schooner and the surrounding area. They were friendly, engaging and very professional. Looking forward to trying an evening cruise where there will be less exposure to the bright sunlight.

Expected more narration

My wife and I love sailing. It is quiet and peaceful. Shortly after pushing away and hoisting the sails the young man guide gave us the history of the Lady Liberty statue. Then the young lady guide said a couple of things then said, "I'll tell you more later because your eyes will not be able to see what I would be talking about." So I was ready for more historical narration farther out. Well, it never came. If you love a quiet sailboat cruise then this is for you. If you want historical narration then you better ask questions before getting your reservations.

We enjoyed our short sail on the 3-masted schooner - Alliance - off the port of Yorktown around the York River. The 3 man crew were great. The young man and woman tending to the sails were efficient and informative. They gave us a little rundown of the area, some history and explanation of a 3-masted craft. The weather turned out to be lovely with just enough wind. The Zerve website worked perfectly and even though we didn't have a printer, by writing down the number, they knew who we were. I'd do it again!!

Just a short drive from Williamsburg and well worth it. A fun two hour sail with a competent crew. Hopefully there will be some wind on the day you choose to sail. The drinks are too pricey but I would sail the Schooner Alliance again when in Yorktown Va.

Check in very efficient, no problems as long as you have your printed booking form with you, unlike some other clients who had forgotten theirs (and they were late). Encouraged to take part, with good instruction, to take part in hoisting sails, etc. Only downside very little commentary during sail from Captain and crew on passing local scenery and history during voyage unless asked direct questions, have had better commentary on previous excursions taken with other companies in previous years. Overall enjoyable and value for money.
