Pleasant, but not exciting.

The ship is beautiful and clean. The crew knowledgeable not only about sailing, but also about the area and its history and are a joy to converse with if one is inclined to pursue a conversation. The journey itself though, is only a few zig zags in the York river. One never leaves sight of the pier from which you set out! I was mildly disappointed in the trip itself. That said, I was fortunate to migrate aft and find a seat near Captain Greg Lohse where a number of other passengers and I engaged him in a wonderful conversation about the Yorktown campaign and other items of historical significance. The junior crewmember (Sarah) also adeptly answered numerous questions about sailing and the ship itself. Overall I was very pleased with my experience, but if one does not take it upon oneself to converse with the Alliance's wonderful crew, or has little interests in sailing or history - the trip itself is offers little excitement.

Pretty Nice

The only draw back is the seating. There were not enough places to sit, so 3 of us in our party of 5 had to sit on the floor of the boat, and could only see to the sides of the boat. Could not see forward or to the rear.

My family and I had a wonderful time aboard the Alliance Schooner. The crew was informative and helpful. Our 5 year old was delightfully entertained the entire time. It was a relaxing but fun 2 hour tour.

Great relaxing activity

This was a great relaxing activity. If you are looking for excitement or an adrenalin rush, this doesn't provide that experience. This was the perfect ending to a relaxing weekend getaway. If you really are into sailing, I heard the 11am trip you'd be able to help with raising the sails. I am sure if you wanted to help with the actual sailing, the deck hands would certainly provide you with that opportunity.

We enjoyed being on the water and enjoyed the history of the Schooner and the owners history. The young man that helped on the boat was very pleasant and informative.

The Alliance was a great time and such a fun sailing adventure! I get motion sick and was dreading the trip, expecting to get very sick. Surprisingly, the ride was smooth and I did not get sea sick at all! My husband and I had a great time and would definitely recommend this!

We enjoyed the cruise very much! It was just the right length and the crew was very effcient and well trained! The only thing I would change would be to add an amplifying system so the commentary could be heard by everyone. I suppose this request is because I am very hard of hearing. Thank you for a very nice cruise!!! Jim & Donna LaBorde from Indiana

Beautiful boat, had a wonderful time. The crew was so much fun. My only recommendation is to take a blanket or jacket if in spring, it was a little nippy. Also I don't recommend children unless they are teenagers. We had our 7 month old and we had a nice time but it was kind of hard of him. Any other children would be bored or wanting to make mischief, I think.
