My 4-year-old grandson enjoyed himself, but the experience wasn't hugely exciting. He, and I, were ready to be off the boat well before the end of the trip. We were never out of sight of where we boarded and their wasn't much to see.
The crew was very attentive and there was the opportunity to help hoist the sail...the high point of the two hours, that and the trip to the head in the belly of the boat.
I wouldn't say it was worth $30 or $18 for kids, but it was an experience that will be remembered fondly in photographs. I think a ride in a fast boat would be more the kind of thing children would like. |

We very much enjoyed our schooner cruise on the York River. I wish it could have been longer and incorporated more of the river, though. The boat was very clean and well run. The crew obviously liked their jobs and being on the water. They were very glad to talk about the boat and the river. The weather was beautiful and the river couldn't have been smoother. The box lunches were great, by the way. |

My wife and I took our graddsons (10 & 12) and had a good experience. The crew was great and very informative. The 2 hour trip flew by , the waters were very calm and the weather was a little warm. I would have like to have had more to do while cruising, such as more interaction with other vistors and crew. The cruise got a liitle dull with no music and little action in the surrounding area. |

my family and i enjoyed the boat ride but we felt that we would be sailing more into the bay instead of going to the middle and sitting still for an hour. we were also informed that we would be learning about the history around the bay but we also we just left to ourselves |

Really enjoyed sailing down the river. Just wished we could have gone a little further. My wife thought the trip was very relaxing.

First I will try to say the positive things about the trip. The boat departed on time and the crew was friendly. That's it!
It was my understanding that you would be able to participate in the operations of the ship with various instructions from the crew so you might learn how the ship operates. All that was allowed was to raise one of the sails and that was it. I thought there would be some kind of narration as the ship processed up the York River. I think the guy steering the ship was doing some of it but you could not hear anything in the bow of the ship. This could have easily been taken care of with a few speakers mounted in the bow. However, that said it was nothing more than a ride on a boat.
I wanted to learn about the boat and its operations. There should have been a narration about the boat itself. What type of boat it was, when it was build, what type of sails ect. Also a walk through the boat to show the entire boat would have been nice. There was none of that.
I was very disappointed and unsatisfied. It was my plan to take my fiancée out in the future on the ship for a sun set trip but this is neither worth the money nor the time.
The most dissatisfying item to me was the tip jar put up right were you went on and off the ship. I felt like I was forced to put something in there and the crew did nothing extra to warrant me giving them a tip. Maybe you just need to pay them more than having them beg for money. I mean come on they did latterly nothing extra at least in my mind. I earn the money I have and I do not like to just give it away. |

VERY DISAPPOINTED that our disabled daughter was placed by the trash cans in her wheelchair. We had no where to sit other than on lifejacket storage boxes that provided no back support. For anyone, especially with arthritis, the ride was miserable. Kudos to the staff. They were more than wonderful. However, we were deeply disappointed. |
