The crew were good people and fun to talk with. That's about all I can say positive about the experience. We expected to be sailing, with some speed, in open waters. Instead we did one slow, long circle never getting far from land. Half the time we seemed to be sitting still in the water, although the wind was good that day. So, I can only assume that just languishing in the inner harbor is the way the trip was supposed to be. We could have just as well sat on the beach for two hours. Having taken other sailing trips in Annapolis....in which we actually SAILED, this was very disappointing. |

Yes, it was fun to sail on the schooner and a good vacation activity, but I thought the ticket price turned out to be a little high for what we got. The crew was awesome! Very friendly and very knowledgeable of the history of the area and of sailing in general. But to call it a sightseeing day sail is a little misleading. We simply made a small circle in the river and really just barely left the dock. Yes that took a couple of hours because we were "sailing", but I feel for no more than we saw $64 for two people was too high. My husband and I agreed that it was okay for a one time vacation activity, but I am not sure that I would recommend it to others. In this area, there are so many other ways to spend that amount of money and "sightsee" much more. I definitely would not spend the money if I were taking a family. |

Mix sun, wind, water and a schooner and you have a relaxing two hours which includes great views and a sailor's perspective on the events which occurred in Yorktown during the time of the Revolutionary War. |

I thought sailing on the York river would be fun with family and younger children. The watching the "dolphins" at the bow of the ship was a great interest. However, make sure there is actually "wind" to make the ship sail. A slow moving ship might be relaxing and enjoyable for mature people, however, it's boring to kids. |

The captain and crew were friendly and informative. The sailing was beautiful and made for a wonderful afternoon. We would highly recommend the sail on the Alliance. |

we had a delightful sight of a beautiful three masted ship at the dock. boarded on time and they were careful to remind us to "watch your step". Capt. Mike did a grand job of relating the history of the area as we sailed. Some members of tour even helped with raising the sails. It was a great sunny day and the ride was smooth. the river was smooth and the wind was lightly blowing under a blue clear sky. we had ordered lunch for the both of us and the hostess reminded us that we did have box lunches available at any time we wanted. wife ,alice, was thrilled at the ride and the people on board. by the way, every thing was shipshape and in good repair. we both liked the galley area and enjoyed our box lunch. hey, when he docked the ship Capt . Mike did it with out a bump . we did thoughly enjoy the two hour sailing trip and had a relaxing time and a visual delightful time. my alice said that she would do it again . |

The four of us enjoyed the schooner trip. We learned first hand some things about sailing by watching and observing. We also got to pick up some additional naval history on the area from Captain Greg. We're thinking of taking in the Fourth of July sail.
Thanks again,

Staff was very friendly. I was already aware that there is no scenic route of breathtaking views and it's not a narrated cruise (however, the staff addressed any questions). So if you're looking for a relaxed 2 hour afternoon sailing, this will not disappoint you. I think music would be a great addition. |
