This was my husband and my first sailboat ride. We really enjoyed it. The crew was very friendly and had good humor. The only downside was the weather that day...cold, windy and rainy. But, the excursion was still well worth it. Just make sure you dress warm!!! |

We had only sailed one time before, and that was a single masted ship. We loved it, and it whetted our appetite to try a "real" sailboat. The schooner is such a majestic and romantic design. It has been a lifelong dream to experience the wind under full sail. I couldn't believe it when I discovered the opportunity while we vacationed in Williamsburg. We had a wonderful, full vacation, but hands down, our sail on the Alliance was the highlight of our trip! We were fortunate to have grand winds, and the crew really kept busy and worked hard. They were informative about the surrounding landmarks and were very friendly and were gracious hosts. It was a joy and learning experience to watch the ballet of trimming the sails. Our profound thanks to them! |

Enjoyable sail primarily under non-motorized sail power, voyagers given the opportunity to help hoist the sails. Minimal drinks / snacks available on board. Beware - you pay more in advance than if you just "show up" and pay cash - probably a safer bet off season than in summer. |

We decided to do this trip as our Anniversary celebration of 24 years. There were 2 other couples as well for their anniversary. Just as the sun set the crew pulled out a little cannon and shot it off for us to celebrate our years of marriage. There was a child on board and it was exciting to watch him light up along with the rest of us to watch. The entire crew was pleasant and nice and answered any questions that came up. Once again I highly recommend this trip it was relaxing and we enjoyed the 2 hours. |
