My husband and I and our two teenage children had a lovely time on this sunset cruise. The crew was excellent and willing to explain how things worked on the ship to my curious family. Would definitely go again and recommend to others.
There were other families with young children who did have a challenge keeping their interest for the two hour timeframe, so I would suggest that this is not appropriate for children under 8 or so. |

The trip was nice. The crew raised the sails but the ship was motor powered due to lack of wind. The crew was kind and talked with everyone. They answered questions and shared stories. They even shot a cannon! We came upon dolphins so they shut off the engines and let the tourists enjoy. The sunset was beautiful. Wine and hot dogs were available for purchase. We intend to return with our children. This was the highlight of Yorktown. |

We enjoyed the peaceful cruise on the York river. We were lucky to have seats close to Captain Greg so we were able to get a lot of history of the Bay area and how it came to be. |

My husband and I took our 3 children (ages 13, 7, and 5) on this cruise and had a wonderful time! The captain and his crew were experienced and obviously enjoyed what they were doing. They were full of knowledge and history about the area, and willingly answered all of our questions. They were patient with our children and let them both sail the ship and taught them to tie knots. The scenery was beautiful, as is the Schooner Alliance. It was a lovely way to spend an evening and is well worth the money. |

We enjoyed the laid-back attitude and friendly atmosphere. Weather even co-operated.
The refreshments provided were reasonably priced, and made the experience even more enjoyable.
Would recommend it and plan to do it again. |

The sail was wonderful and I loved it when they fired the cannon. However it was too expensive for how crowded the boat was. The crew insisted we sit down while leaving the dock and there was literally not any place to sit even on the deck. We were packed on the boat like sardines. The cruise was advertised as a sunset sail (kind of romantic) and I couldn't even stand next or sit next to my date. We were not the last to board, but we did not push to front of the line. I was certain there woud be a place for us to at least stand next to each other regardless of where we were in line. I think they should lower the price of the tickets or sell fewer tickets so it is a quality experience for those who sail. Perhaps walk the boat with a few friends and have them sit down to determine the maximum number in order for people to enjoy the sail with those that they purchased tickets with. I live in Virginia Beach and have frequent out of town guests that I take to see all of the nearby cities. I usually take my guests for a sail out of Waterside in downtown Norfolk. I like the Yorktown River walk area better than the Waterside area in Norfolk, but I would not bring out of town guests back to Yorktown to sail I will be taking them to Waterside in Norfolk to sail on the Rover. |

My wife and I booked this for some quiet time on a boat that didn't rumble with engines. Except for getting immediately to and from the dock, we were under sail for almost two hours. The crew was great, and we hope to return in the future and possibly sail out on the bay, instead of upriver. Try it! Even though there were over 30 people aboard, it was virtually stress-free! |

My partner and I went out on the sunset excursion and really enjoyed the relaxing views of the York River and the wonderful hospitality. The slower pace of the sailing and the surprise interaction with wonderfully friendly and outgoing people was a highlight to a week-long trip in the MidAtlantic region. |
