Fabulous Sunset Cruise

My husband and I (newlyweds but in our 60's) were on our honeymoon. We are from the New Orleans area and don't have anything like these ships around here, even though we live on a lake and are surrounded by water. We thought it would be a romantic cruise and it definitely was. The crew was very informative and helpful. They explained the workings of the sails and even let you hoist the sail yourself, if you wanted to. They were very friendly and took pictures of us and other passengers on board. All in all it was an extremely enjoyable evening. The weather was perfect and the sunset was beautiful.

Beautiful, economical sailing excursion

My wife and I were on our honeymoon and thought this would be a neat final treat on our last night in town. It was a beautiful sunset that lasted into early evening and got to watch the moon rise. The trip is very economical and well worth the price. The captain and the assistants are very friendly about talking about sites, the schooner, and even personal stuff. They allow you to help out if you want, or you can just watch, relax, and enjoy the trip. They offer alcoholic beverages at a very reasonable price to go along with the trip. We definitely recommend the Alliance trip and crew, and will look them up in the future when we go further south to their warmer climate location.

A Pleasant diversion

Enjoyed the experience and personality of the crew and listening to their stories. The evening was perfect weather and the company pleasant. I would have liked to go further out down the river- it seemed like we went barely 2 miles and then just turned around. Maybe that was because of the low wind?

A relaxing, fun trip

We took the sunset cruise on a lovely October evening. The wind was a bit chilly, but we were fine with sweaters and jackets. However, if the weather had been any colder or a little rainy, we would have been miserable, as there is only the smallest area below deck available to passengers. The crew was very friendly, and we were given brief educational information on the schooner and area. Even though it was windy, the ride was not rough, and nobody appeared to be seasick. We were given the opportunity to help raise the sails, which was quite fun. Light refreshments were available for purchase, including hot chocolate. It was a very enjoyable outing, though not over the top exciting. There were no actual seats but there were plenty of places to perch. My only criticism is that the trip was just a bit too long. Perhaps the strong wind got us up the river faster than usual, but we were almost sitting still in the water for the last half hour as we drifted back to the dock as the sun set. All in all, it was a fun trip that I would recommend.

Nice touch to anniversary trip

We were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and thought the sunset cruise would be a romantic thing to do. For the first part of our trip, the weather was unseasonably warm; the night of the cruise, however, it was quite chilly and rainy. The people who ran the boat were very friendly and made us feel safe. We also liked that it was a smaller crowd so it was easy to move around on the boat. If we could make note of one thing that we would like to have seen done better, it would simply be having more of a "guided" tour, with some more explanations or points of where we were, surroundings, etc. Granted, it wasn't sold as a historical tour, but those little added touches would have been nice. However, if the captain was asked a question, he did answer it, so it wasn't like the crew didn't communicate with the guests. Overall, we enjoyed it despite the chill in the air. Next time, we'd make sure to do it on a warmer day.

This was my husband and my first sailboat ride. We really enjoyed it. The crew was very friendly and had good humor. The only downside was the weather that day...cold, windy and rainy. But, the excursion was still well worth it. Just make sure you dress warm!!!
