A great thing to do for a date night.

The crew was knowledgable about local history, and friendly. They also know their way around the boat, and sailed her well. The sunset was beautiful the night we went. I would suggest a wind breaker even if it is a hot day, as the temperature drops quickly on the river, as the sun does. Make sure to be on time, as the boat does leave the dock promptly. Enjoy!

No refund

No refund policy doesn't allow for emergencies....CAUTION...if you are traveling don't plan to go unless you are already there. We never anticipated not getting there and truck broke down on way to the event...no understanding, just a loss of $$$$. Thanks, but I'll never do that again.

We had a great time!

We were a little leary at first because it was very cloudy and the water looked kind of rough and ship was rocking by the dock. But we went because we had already paid for our tickets. What a wonderful surprise! It was very smooth sailing and the sun came out and we saw a very nice sunset afterall. There were only seven passengers-two couples 70+ and a young couple and the girl's brother so it was almost like a private sailing. The crew was very nice and explained a lot about sailing the ship. We also enjoyed visiting with the young couple even though there was a large age difference. I got some great pictures of the sunset. I certainly would do it again!

no complaints. Everything went as expected. The captain even went the extra mile so we could observe an unusual event on the river. I really appreciate it.

I would have liked a little more narration about what we were seeing, but the crew was always available to answer questions. All in all, a very good time.

I highly recommend sailing the York River onboard the Alliance schooner. The captain and the crew took great care of us and gave us a terrific experience. We will have to repeat this one day!

Somewhat boring - NO wind for sail.
Sun, Jun 10, 12   11:00 AM donadam Male 60-69 Local Family Without Children
The ship can not control the wind. May have been more enjoyable with some wind. Feel crew could have been more welcoming. We got there early. No boarding until 10 minutes before sail. Crew was on board but basically ignored those on dock waiting to board. Then when time to board put on their "happy" face telling everyone how happy they were to have them. We were there more than 20 minutes without one acknowledgement from any crew person. I do not know how much work would be on the ship with a good wind but with little breeze the crew mostly stood around. It would be nice if the Captain and/or some crew gave more information about the Chesepeake Bay, the history of Yorktown particularly as it pertains to the Revolutionary surrender and the French ships help keeping Cornwallis on land and not able to cross the river. I'm sure most passengers would have enjoyed hearing some of this and also may have opened up more questions about the area, its history and the Alliance.

Didn't Move
Wed, Jun 6, 12   6:30 PM jankasony Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Our family was very disappointed in this cruise. Not the fault of the crew, there was just no wind the night of our sail. We basically inched out to the center of the river and then just sat in one spot for 2 hours. The captain did agree to fire the cannon, which added SOME diversion. Would not recommend

Nice date!!

We were held up by a thunder storm. The crew was knowlegable and friendly. I wanted to see the ship under sail and see the crew work the sails in the wind. Most of the cruise was spent with ship powered by the engine. That was disappointing for me.
