Schooners Alliance & Serenity

We took the 2 hour sunset sail on April 15th. Although the weather didn't cooperate (too cloudy to see the sunset) , we had a great time. The crew was very pleasant and explained the workings of the ship. They invited anyone who so desired to help raise the sails. We highly recommend this adventure.

Have seen the schooner at the Yorktown pier or sailing in the York and wanted to try out the sailing experience. Had a nice time.

It was very relaxing and enjoyable. I was hoping the boat would pick up speed a little when they raised the sails but unfortunately didnt go much faster although it still was a great experience.

Well organized. Operated on schedule. The ride was nice and the crew were nice, but the scenery of sailing toward the bay instead of up the river was a disappointment. Essentially nothing but water. Up the York River near the coastline would have been much more scenic.

My wife and I were on our honeymoon and thought this would be a neat final treat on our last night in town. It was a beautiful sunset that lasted into early evening and got to watch the moon rise. The trip is very economical and well worth the price. The captain and the assistants are very friendly about talking about sites, the schooner, and even personal stuff. They allow you to help out if you want, or you can just watch, relax, and enjoy the trip. They offer alcoholic beverages at a very reasonable price to go along with the trip. We definitely recommend the Alliance trip and crew, and will look them up in the future when we go further south to their warmer climate location.

Customers with paid reservations should be boarded first. Although we were in line before the recommended time, "walk-ups" were boarded ahead and we had no room to be seated... Pre-purchase provides no benefit for the customert, except for the potential overbooking of the craft. That was a disappointment as we could not sit near each other.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our sail on the York River. We left the dock on time and arrived back at the dock at the designated time. In between those times we had a fantastic day of warm sunshine and a great breeze for sailing. The crew of two girls and the captain were efficient in their duties as well as allowing me to raise the rear sail. They never hesitated to answer any questions from any of the passengers. It was very enjoyable boat ride. The crew was very good about explaining everything about the sailboat. Highly recommend.

Excellent crew, nice trip, definitely recommended for a couple or an opportunity to spend some quiet time on the water.
