Beautiful way to spend an evening

The Alliance is a well-equipped sailing vessel with state of the art navigation and quiet diesel backup power for times when the wind is not cooperative. She is stunningly beautiful. Admiral Greg and crew made us feel right at home. We enjoyed talk about the river, area landmarks, and their excursions further south on the Alliance. I'm looking forward to an opportunity to spend a week with them.

Sailing the Seven Seas in two hours!
Sun, May 10, 09   11:00 AM Dansker Male 60-69 Local Family Without Children
My wife and I have always wanted to tour the York River from a schooner, and we had a fabulous experience aboard the "Alliance".The husband and wife crew were knowledgable, and answered my questions fully. We took part in "getting under way' with the hauling up the sails. The first mate was courteous and full of information regarding the vessel and its run to the Danish West Indies during the winter months. My wife and I had a great luncheon aboard ship prepared by a Yorktown restaurant. All in all, I would highly recommend this little voyage to young and old alike. Families with children, and senior citizens(ourselves) would certainly enjoy this little hop on the "Seven Seas!" I would give the experience FIVE STARS:+)..Erik and Elisa:+):+)

Wonder sail on ALLIANCE
Sun, May 3, 09   11:00 AM TommyO83 Male 30-39 Local Family With Children
Our trip on the ALLAINCE exceeded all expectations. The crew was extremey friendly and patcient as they went over all the parts of the ship and allowed our children to help them set sail. The ride was relaxing and the snacks reasonably priced. It was a memorable afternoon. We look forward to doing it again.

Disappointed

We were very disappointed with the sail. We have done a fair amount of sailing in the past, and were expecting more. There was no wind, so even though the sails were hoisted, we were under motor.

As a postlude to a wedding & reception at the Waterman's Museum in Yorktown, VA, I joined the wedding party and a group of their close friends on a sunset cruise aboard the schooner 'Alliance'. We sailed upriver on a beautiful warm evening enjoying every minute on the water. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and hospitable. I would highly recommend this cruise!

Plenty of room on deck and below to find a comfortable place to enjoy the sail, the sights and a good conversation with your party and the friendly crew. Refreshments add to the ambience.

The night was for my husband's birthday being shared with good friends. Unfortunately the day & evening turned out to be quite windy & chilly. But all in all in was fun and the crew is very friendly.

Fun Way to Celebrate Anniversary!
Sat, Oct 18, 08   4:30 PM AmandaRosner Female 20-29 Local Couple on a Date
My boyfriend and I were celebrating our one year anniversary and decided to do the Yorktown Alliance sunset cruise on the York River. I live in Williamsburg and saw the brochure while visiting Yorktown one day with friends. I called and made reservations and our trip was booked. It was easy and the ship crew was very friendly and personable. They even fired off a small cannon on deck in our honor! It was great!! I'd reccomend this experience to anyone. The next time we have friends from out of town, this is something that a group of friends would love to do together or it makes a great activity date! Thanks!

Truth in advertising

We are local people who ofter loved seeing the large cutter parked at Yorktown pier. We decided to take our grown children on a special day out, when we arrived I wondered if we had the wrong day, the large cutter was not docked at the pier; we walked down to the dock and saw a small cutter and we could not believe it was the one we were going to be on! We had planned on having drinks and snacks whilst we sailed. The crew informed us that the large cutter was on a charter that day and wounld not be available! I believe in truth in adveritising, we paid our fee and did not get what we expected. We live locally, and will not recommend your vessel to our friends our bring our many friends who visit us in this are. I remain yours sincerly, Elizabeth A Horney from Poquoson, Virginia. The crew were not responsible, they were very nice!

Needs more dialogue
Sun, Oct 12, 08   2:00 PM larnerrick Female 50-59 Local Family Without Children
The day was beautiful as was the scenery. The trip is billed as going through a historical area, but there was no discussion or dialogue about what we were seeing. This detracted from the tour as the sights were about the same along the shore. It may have been better to visit the ghost fleet further up river or to have a monologue for the crew that weaves in the history and landscape. Either one would have enhanced the trip.
