Our trip on the Alliance Schooner on the York River was very pleasant. My father, who is 90, was with us and the crew was very helpful in getting him situated. Captain Greg was very personable and knowledgeable and we enjoyed the voyage very much. We look forward to doing it again when there is a little more wind to power the sails. |

My wife and I had a wonderful time. The crew provided historical info about the York River, they were social to the point of being friendly and approachable but not consuming the guests. The night weather was perfect, sunset was beautiful, and we had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people.
The ship is beautiful and well maintained. We would highly recommend the cruise for a relaxing 2 hours out on the water. Bring a camera! |

June 3rd was beautiful day, just enough of wind to carry us across the york river and back! My husband and I spend every anniversary aboard the Alliance, having to miss the chance on our wedding day (the rain and waves decided we were not to sail that day)...and we love it every year!!! The Captain and his crew are very nice, and professional, and the boat is absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend this sail for everyone, ...young and old!!!!
Thanks so much Captain Mayhem! :) |

Even though there was very little wind to fill the sails, it was beautiful out on the river, The captain and crew were very accomodating and responded to all questions. We would highly recommend this cruise. |

My wife, daughter,16 month old grandaughter and I enjoyed this very pleasant and leisurely cruise under sail aboard the Schooner Alliance down and then back up the York River, returning to dock at just about sunset. The cruise passed by the Yorktown Battlefield and Monument, and we observed a number of other sailboats and yachts which were out on the water that same evening. The crew of the Alliance were very sociable and informative. As a bonus, there were opportunities for volunteers to help haul up the sails as the cruise gets underway. All in all, a very scenic and relaxing experience for us. Probably not for people who must always be moving at the fast pace of modern life, but definitely recommended to those who want to slow down for awhile and enjoy some quiet, peaceful, relaxing time sailing on a historic river in a historic part of the USA. |

The cruise was great, not too long and not too short. Captain Gregg, Sarah and Beau were all well versed in both ship and area lore and treated the customers like they appreciated them being on board. This cruise was a highlight of our week. |

We had a great evening sail even tho there was no wind. We also had the thrill of going under the George P. Colman bridge before returning to the pier. This was my friend's first trip on a schooner and was worried about becoming seasick. Her wishes were full filled as the York was like glass. All in all, a great trip. |

Overall, the trip was nice. Would have been better if there had been some wind so that we could actually do a little sailin instead of motoring down river and back with the sails up. Also, could have done without the girl from WV that talked loud and incessantly. |

It was very nice and peaceful and relaxing. The only problem was lack of good seating. I realize it's not that big of a schooner but there need to be some chairs to fit in somewhere to provide a more comfortable experience. Otherwise, the sail was nice, the crew was knowledgeable and friendly. I would recomend it and will definitely do it again in the future. |

We recently took this 2 hour charter, having wanted to do it for several years. I made reservations the night before and we arrived about 15 minutes before departure. Having 2 children with Autism, we weren't sure how they would do on a schooner boat but it went great. The crew was wonderful and got both of them involved with raising the sails. They provided snacks after getting out of port and offered free cups of water if requested. It was a wonderful experience! |

The trip was fine. It would have been nicer if there had been some wind. The crew was friendly and helpful. They answered questions about the area, history, sailing, and the boat. |

Go aboard the schooner Alliance and enjoy a wonderful, relaxing afternoon or evening as you learn about sailing and the history of the Yorktown area. Captain Greg and his crew are knowledgeable and courteous and serve as the perfect hosts! I highly recommend this activity for young and old alike! You can sit back and enjoy the scenery or you can help hoist the sales...or both! |
