It was a very nice 2 hour cruise. Wine, beer, and sodas, and chips were available, it being a sunset cruise some cut cheese and crackers would have been nice, and would have gone over well with the wine drinkers. Crew was very curtious and knowlegeable. We (my wife and i would recommend it to any one)

Smooth Relaxed Sailing

We enjoyed a very relaxing day of sailing on the York River. We spoke with the Captain before the sail and found him to be very competent. The crew was very knowledgeable about the sailing procedures of the schooner and the surrounding area around York River. We certainly would sail again.

Dolphins in the York River !!

My wife and I took the sunset sail. I never knew there were dolphins in the York River. They swam along the boat and were very entertaining. We stayed at about 3knts the whole trip. It was so relaxing and quiet. The Captain and crew are very nice and informative and allow you to help with the sails if you want. They have snacks and wine which is very nice. I've recomended this cruise to everyone we know, even children would love it and there isn't an age limit. We plan to do this again. We went in September and took jackets.

Honeymoon event to remember!
Wed, Sep 17, 08   5:30 PM Sxamaphones Male 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My wife and I visited the Williamsburg area on our honeymoon and saw a pamplet in our hotel for the Yorktown sunset sailing trip. We thought it might be a nice romantic way to spend one of our evenings there, so we went online and bought some tickets. The weather was fantastic for our evening on the ship and the entire experience was beyond words. The crew was so nice and made things quite enjoyable. You were encouraged to help out with pulling up the sails and getting things started or to just sit and enjoy the ride. We also were privilaged to see a number of dolphins who actually came quite close to the boat and swam with us for quite some time. Seing the sunset on the river while being on a sailboat was quite the experience. The crew also discoverd that it was our honeymoon and, for a special treat, shot off a cannon to celebrate. We had an amazing time and I would recomend this trip for anyone and everyone.

Great trip--ridiculous reservation & prep process
Mon, Sep 15, 08   11:00 AM dmschwank Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The promo info provided is very sketchy and the process for making reservations is really poor. For reservations of this kind, we are accustomed to being able to reach a person or do a transaction online. Your after-hours phone process really stinks. We really wanted to do this trip or we would have given you a fig for the SO UNBUSINESS- LIKE process you have for off-hours reservations. Williamsburg/Yorktown is a vacation destination--get a life. People are in fun mode and not do not have loads of patience-- DUH. More shelter from the sun would be appreciated by most voyagers. The trip is really cool and it is too bad you do not have better business sense. (sign us) Land-lubbers who also love the sea and other waters.

lovely relaxing cruise on the river

The crew was very nice and knowledgable about the area, the ship and its operation. They answered all our questions with detail and explantion. There were only a few of us on board, so the captian had plenty of time to chat with us. We were able to help with the hoisting of the sails, and steering the ship. It was a very relaxing 2 hour sail... lovely breeze, and sunshine.

A Great Cruise

I contacted schooner alliance for a special occasion. I had decide it was time to propose to my then girlfriend and now fiance. i requested a saturday cruise not knowing that tropical storm hannah would wash out my plans. I was contacted and told that all cruises were cancelled for that day but was offfered a reschedule for the following day. It turned out to be a bueatiful warm day. The crew was awesome while I was on board I was extremely nervous, the crew offered to help in any way possible. I waitied for the sun to set dropped to one knee and proposed. She of course said yes. The crew shot off the cannon and dedicated it to the future Mr and Mrs. Johnson it was terrific. We will go again very soon. I would recommened this to anyone local or tourist. Thanks for everything!!!

Ship was Nice, Scenery Nothing Special

Being on the ship was very relaxing, watching the sails being raised was interesting, but the sailing area was nothing great (power plant and oil refinery).

relaxing, romantic evning

Okay, there wasn't much of a breeze that evening, so that limited how far/fast we could go (but, obviously, that's out of the captain's control). But other than that, it was a relaxing and romantic evening adventure. Captain and crew were personable and pleasant. Moving through the water with nothing more than wind power was peaceful. On board snacks were reasonably priced.

An inspiring experience

The staff was incredibly friendly, it felt like we had known them for years. The captain of the ship was extremely knowledgeable about revolutionary war history on the York river as well as civil war history and sailing, of course. He was a great conversationalist. The ship is clean and pristine and the experience of sailing along is incredible if you've never done it before. You have the choice to make it a romantic experience and sit off by yourself in quiet, you can engage with other guests and the staff in intriguing conversation, you can get hands on and help the crew raise some sails, or you can just enjoy all aspects as my wife and I did.

Sorry Missed the Boat

Due to the poor directions we were given, and the non-logical road map in the local brochure we were given to use at our hotel, we had difficulty finding you.Once we did we discover your location, there was no parking across from your pier as you stated.PARKING WAS DOWN THE ROAD!!!!AND IT WAS OVERCROWDED PARKING AT THAT!!!!!By the time we found a parking space, walked to your pier, Your boat was just leaving on it's excursion!!!!!Needless to say i paid good money to watch your boat pull away!!! I am not happy!!!! Mr.Charles Dalrymple

Alliance Sunset Cruise

Nice cruise. What a treat. My friends really enjoyed it. It would have been nice to have more seating options on the deck, but at only 2 hours, we did fine standing the entire time. (Early boarders got the limited seating areas). I am sure we will take another cruise on this ship.
