AN OPPORTUNITY LOST
Sat, Sep 5, 09   5:30 PM PatriciaBoho Male 70+ Local Unspecified
We spent 45 min. watching or helping the crew raise sails and collect lanyards. We sailed under the bridge for 30 min. Then we watched or helped the crew secure ropes and drop sails. There was no history about the area, no comments about what to look for nor what was along the shore. Nothing. I would see as much by riding slowly across the bridge. I think Yorktown is missing a wonderful opportunity tio promote tourism. Obviously you will not use my review. H. L. Bohon (a local)

Hi! Two couples on a date went on this cruise. The men are sailors and they loved it. Just had a blast. Greg was fantastic, and they enjoyed so much talking to him. Wives loved the peace and quiet, just doing nothing, just sitting and talking. I'm not sure what I expected, but I thought there would be a little more, though, than just sitting and doing nothing. The peace and quiet was great. Perhaps I thought there would be more interactive, but it was exactly as advertised, so I can't complain. Seriously. I do wonder, though, what's the price difference for? What do you get on an evening cruise for the extra $5? We are already recommending this to others. I got some amazing photos. It was nice to be on a ship where I wasn't cramped! (Ours is only 27' long.) Two thumbs up!

We invited a couple of friends who were visiting us from Tacoma WA. The crew were very knoledgeble about local history, and even though I have spent many years studying past events in the area, I learned quite a bit from the Captain. Three days later I took my Bride of 42 years on a second cruise on her birthday. This was the Sunset Cruise and again we thouroughly enjoyed the experience. We enjoyed ourselves enough to looking forward to a week aboard this winter in the Carribean. Highly recommend this activity! Ed

The cruise from Yorktown on the sailing vessel was well worth the money, even though we didn't have enough wind and had to motor with the sails up and not doing much. The crew were very capable and friendly and provided answers to any and all questions, along with history of the area. If you like being on the water, we recommend this to all. Hope to do a week cruise in the future with the same boat.

My wife and I live in Williamsburg and we had her brother and wife visiting. First time for all of us to go sailing. Wonderful ship, crew, and weather. Fantastic views. Great time hoisting the sails. Hope they do well in Panama this winter.

Not only was I pleased, but the three women I took along with me were delighted. Two of them had never sailed before and though they were hesitant at the thought, they were thrilled with the experience. Our Captain and Crew were the friendliest and for the price, this event should not be missed. We all hope to visit them again.

My husband and I, our 11 year old granddaughter and her best friend took your sunset cruise on the York River. It was a marvelous experience for everyone of us. The captain and the crew were a delight and the schooner was a true work of art. We would take the opportunity to repeat this adventure, if given the chance.

Not an exciting activity

The cruise was short, as expected. There is so much history and culture in the area that it would not take much to share it with participants that desire to. Too, how to make a sailing vessel work could be shared with the people on the tour. The day we went there was no wind so the sails were put up for show. There was no effort by the crew to captivate or entertain the participants. The little cannon was a joke!

Our party had 2 kids 13 and 11 and 4 adults from 42-52 years old. The adults really liked it, but I think the kids could have done without. The crew was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. They were a great pleasure to spend 2 hours with. We had a beautiful day and it was nice to take a rest from running from attraction to attraction.
