Crew was great....no wind.

Went on the sail with my wife during a vacation from the west coast. Very much enjoyed the company of the crew. They were very friendly and informative describing the schooner and answering questions posed to them. Being a history buff, I would have liked them to have discussed more history of the area. Although out of the control of the crew, there was no wind, therefore the entire cruise was under power rather than sail. That was a downer.

The crew was very freindly! Ready to answer all your questions. You could help raise or lower the sails. The trip was a great evening of fun. Everyone should enjoy this trip, all ages.

I took my first sailboat ride with my husband and two friends. The ride was delightful-quiet, interesting, and smooth. The city was picturesque and the nearby restaurant food was tasty. I would thoroughly recommend this excursion to anyone.

Everyone had a lovely time

My husband and I and our two teenage children had a lovely time on this sunset cruise. The crew was excellent and willing to explain how things worked on the ship to my curious family. Would definitely go again and recommend to others. There were other families with young children who did have a challenge keeping their interest for the two hour timeframe, so I would suggest that this is not appropriate for children under 8 or so.

Enjoyable trip with dolphins
Sat, Aug 7, 10   6:00 PM wise3028 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
The trip was nice. The crew raised the sails but the ship was motor powered due to lack of wind. The crew was kind and talked with everyone. They answered questions and shared stories. They even shot a cannon! We came upon dolphins so they shut off the engines and let the tourists enjoy. The sunset was beautiful. Wine and hot dogs were available for purchase. We intend to return with our children. This was the highlight of Yorktown.

We have watched the sails across the river for many years. This summer we decided to go ahead and take the trip and we all greatly enjoyed it. The captain and crew were professional, personable and very informative. Sailing on the river is a wonderful way to spend some relaxing and comfortable time on the water especially on a hot day.

We expected to be traveling further than we did. We basically stayed pretty much within view of the harbor. Would have appreciated more historical info. We discovered that the captain was relating historical info as questions were asked. We were not sitting near him and discovered the talk as we explored the ship.

We enjoyed the peaceful cruise on the York river. We were lucky to have seats close to Captain Greg so we were able to get a lot of history of the Bay area and how it came to be.

We truly enjoyed our time on the Alliance. The staff was wonderful. Allowed us to raise the sails. That was neat. They encourage questions and there is so much going on along the river with the Coast guard, history, and the state police patrol. It was peaceful and enlightening. Refreshments are available and plenty of shade could be found. I would highly recommend it to any tourist looking for some time on the water.

Boat ride rather than sightseeing.

Captain Greg was a man of few words. He would give one or two word answers to questions, but not much more. Laura was very friendly and informative. The second mate was a local teenage boy who did an outstanding job providing detailed answers to the Yorktown battle and sight locations. The thing is, you had to ask questions as to where the points of interest, and the sights were located. I would recommend this tour, but first you should see the town, and the Yorktown battlefield to get a lay of the land. Then you will know what to look for from the Alliance.

Enjoyable family outing

This was our second trip on the Alliance. Both days we made reservations a couple of days out when we knew it would be nice weather. The captain and crew made the trip interesting, even getting kids involved in hoisting the sails. Plenty of places to sit on the ship, and a galley with snacks. Zerve made reserving very easy. Did everything on my smartphone. No need to print an eticket; just follow the directions to get your code. Happy sailing!
