The ship was absolutely immaculate and the crew quite competent. We were pleasantly surprised with a bonus of music by two of the ship's crew. Would definitely recommend this to anyone !

We found the staff to be very helpful and polite. The trip we took was one of the scientfic trips which made the trip perfect for our teenagers. We would highly recommend this trip for someone just wanting to get away for a few hours. The on board drinks and snacks were very very reasonable.

A Great Cruise

I contacted schooner alliance for a special occasion. I had decide it was time to propose to my then girlfriend and now fiance. i requested a saturday cruise not knowing that tropical storm hannah would wash out my plans. I was contacted and told that all cruises were cancelled for that day but was offfered a reschedule for the following day. It turned out to be a bueatiful warm day. The crew was awesome while I was on board I was extremely nervous, the crew offered to help in any way possible. I waitied for the sun to set dropped to one knee and proposed. She of course said yes. The crew shot off the cannon and dedicated it to the future Mr and Mrs. Johnson it was terrific. We will go again very soon. I would recommened this to anyone local or tourist. Thanks for everything!!!

It was a very nice 2 hour cruise. Wine, beer, and sodas, and chips were available, it being a sunset cruise some cut cheese and crackers would have been nice, and would have gone over well with the wine drinkers. Crew was very curtious and knowlegeable. We (my wife and i would recommend it to any one)

Captain Gregg & his crew are Welcoming and very Accommodating! His knowledge of local history is amazing! We live on the Atlantic so we frequent the water ways often in our own boat. This sail was a definite treat! The Alliance is very well maintained!!! Sailing with her was definetely the highlight of our visit to YorkTown! And, the price was extremely affordable! We had an absolutely wonderful experiance on the sunset sail. The crew really went out of their way to make all feel welcome and enjoy the cruise. We enjoyed the several conversations with the crew and were delited at how involved or not involved they allowed for. We helped to set the sails and sat back for wonderful conversation and peaceful evening on the water. The crew offered plenty of information and shared their experiance and know how about the ship. We would certainly recomend this excursion to anyone and plan on doing it again our selves on our next visit. The Alliance and her crew Rocks!

Day Sail Cruise
Wed, Sep 30, 09   11:00 AM GeneCavalier Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Very exciting, fun and relaxing. Not as ambitious or as adventurous as I imagined, but still a lot of fun. I am used to sailing on smaller boats, which actually requires more work and getting wet - but maybe not the skill required to sail a large schooner. A two hour day cruise seemed to be the just the right amount of time. Got to meet interesting people on board. I imagine the 7-day cruise to the Caribbean would be extremely interesting. Overall, lots of fun.

Disappointment!

First, we didn't get on the big ship even though I specifically reserved for what was supposed to be the last day it was available, rather than the following day when it would have been more convenient but the big ship was not going to be available. Then, there wasn't a lot of wind so we just floated in the same spot untl we had all the scenery memorized. Apparently, not a big effort was made to catch the wind because we got to watch the Alliance leave for Jacksonville and sail off out of sight without any difficulty whatsoever. There were no snacks or drinks aboard as promised even though I had confirmed that very thing by phone a day before. So while we stared at the same scenery in sight of the pier where we took off for two hours, we also had to die of thirst in the heat because the boat wasn't moving at all to cause a breeze. The couple who manned the boat didn't bother to tell us a thing about the area but the woman did seem to like to talk about herself. It was a total waste of money and time. We could have stood on shore and seen the same thing but we would have had a nice cold drink in our hand and had the opportunity to move into the shade.

The sail on the York River was really enjoyed by myself and my husband. It is great that Yorktown offers this time of cruise. It is true that you never go to see what is local; however, we did, and we will recommend the sailing to others.

We had a great time! The captain and crew were professional, courteous, informative, and extremely inclusive to everyone on board during this 2 hour schooner sailing on the York River. Guests' ages ran from small children (with parents) to seniors. We had an great day and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for a restful trip on this beautiful river. BZ to the captain and crew!
