Schooners Alliance & Serenity

The Captain and crew were just fantastic! On our journey, they shared their knowledge and humor pertaining to the schooner and enthusiastically shared some of their own adventures while sailing the seas. They made a point of bonding with each of their guests which made us all feel special. I highly recommend this adventure to young and old alike!!!!!

The sailing ship left the dock and the crew put up sails on four masts. The cruise was entirely under sail except for leaving and arriving at the dock. It was cold on the evening we sailed, but an overall relaxing event. If you're looking for adventure, this is probably not the activity for you. But is you would like to experience a nice romantic evening without stress, this is it.

My husband and I enjoyed our little cruise on the Alliance out of Yorktown. The crew and captain were very friendly and informative about the boat and local history. I expected something a little more structured, but we would do it again and recommend it to a friend.

As a land lubber, this is as close to a "cruise" I will let my husband take me on. I would gladly go again! We plan to come back again. We will be be bringing other with us to enjoy this wonderful experience.

My husband and I took the sunset cruise and thoroughly enjoyed every minute! The crew was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The description of the cruise was spot on - down to the need to bring a jacket! It really does get cool on the water after the sun goes down! Highly recommend.

I woould not recommend to anyone, to buy tickets in advance. Saoling in marginal weather is not fun!

My husband and I really enjoyed the two-hour sunset cruise on the Alliance! The captain was extremely knowledgable in history, filling us in on Yorktown history during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. The crew offered opportunities for passengers to help with the sails. There were drinks and snacks available for purchase. I would highly recommend this sail!

Staff was very gracious and accommodating, boat was clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip on the York River. We plan on doing it again and bring friends so they can enjoy it too!

We enjoyed our cruise but the weather was quite coldly and overcast which muted the sunset colours. The schooner is lovely especially with sails up but there isn't really any seating per se. We were comfy but some older people or those with young children may not have been. The Cree were informative and entertaining; our group had quite a strong military background which made chatting and relating to each other east. We would go again and recommend it but try warner weather.

We only sailed around the river very close to the docking point for the entire 2 hours. Not going anywhere was a disappointment. The crew was wonderful and the weather was perfect.

My wife and I did this for our 6 year wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time. This is simply an amazing evening with awesome views, a wonderful setting, and a super relaxing night out.
