Schooners Alliance & Serenity

Was a Father's Day gift. We live locally & were waiting for nice weather to enjoy a cruise on the York River. We enjoyed it very much, the crew was knowledgeable & very courteous & friendly. The weather was wonderful, it was a small, personal group & I would recommend it & go again! ps....My Dad had an "excellent" time!

Was an amazing experience. The crew knows about the history of the area. They gave participation to the people on the boat duties.

There was a total of 6 in our party and we had a delightful time. It was nice to sit and feel the wind pull you out on the river. It was very calming and serene. The day we went the ship was full of people, but really it wasn't too many people. One in our party volunteered and helped hoist the sails. I would definitely recommend this little 2 hour excursion while visiting in Yorktown. After the boat ride we walked along the riverwalk and ate in the quaint Yorktown Pub. Beautiful day! We went for the 2pm -4pm cruise. recommend sunglasses, sunscreen, cash (for snacks and drinks) and a hat! Also be there early so you can be the first in line to pick your seat on the schooner.

My wife and I took the "Alliance" schooner sail trip and had a great time. We were on vacation for (2) weeks and this day was really one of our days we scheduled not to do to much except relax.. We ended up looking online for some relaxing things to do and came across an add about the sailing Yorktown. The weather was perfect and the sea breeze was awesome. The two young girls who were working the deck were very pleasant and knowledgeable, and I also spoke with the captain who was also very friendly and knowledgeable. We were really able to relax sitting along the side of the ship and just take in the sights and we went below once for a soda and some snacks. Another thing we found surprising was we ended up having a very nice conversation on board with a young woman from England who was on vacation and a very nice husband and wife from Toronto who were also on vacation. We vacation in Virginia yearly but this was our first time taking the Sail Yorktown even though we have been to Yorktown in the past. On our next trip though we will take a sail again. We also each bought a souvenir t-shirt of the Alliance for around $17.00 which I felt was fair and reasonable. Thanks for the enjoyable event, and we will definitely do it again.

the schooner was amazing! The staff was friendly, fun and hard working. It was an experience to remember! It might have been more entertaining to have been able to go closer to the shore to see the houses, but seeing the dolphins was a real treat! Can't wait to bring our grandchildren for this ride!

We went on the 11:00 to 1:00 cruise. The staff was knowledgeable about the area and were friendly.

Captain Gregg & his crew are Welcoming and very Accommodating! His knowledge of local history is amazing! We live on the Atlantic so we frequent the water ways often in our own boat. This sail was a definite treat! The Alliance is very well maintained!!! Sailing with her was definetely the highlight of our visit to YorkTown! And, the price was extremely affordable! We had a wonderful time on the Schooner Alliance. The crew was informative and helpful. Plus we had the pleasure of being escorted by a school of dolphins for most of the trip. Well worth the time and $$.

My husband and I were celebrating our 56th anniversary and I thought this would be a fun thing to do. The weather turned bad on our day to go on the schooner, but cleared off just in time for us to go. The ladies who "manned" the sails were amazing, especially the 16-year-old who was beyond amazing. This was her first year at this job and she was great. I have told my friends about this trip and put pictures on facebook. A couple of friends have already said they would like to go and I hope they will follow up and take this cruise. I would certainly recommend this fun cruise. It was great! this was so nice, the weather was beautiful and the captain and his wife were so nice ,it was beautiful sailing

Both the Captain and his two crew members were studious in providing appropriate safety, opportunities to take part in setting the sails and spent their time chatting with those on the sail who wanted to talk. nice selection of beverages, limited snacks (make arrangements for a dinner before or after). Depending on the wind, you may or may not make it to the mouth of the river before the ship is turned around. But you will get to see a beautiful sunset!
