Alliance Schooner

My husband and I enjoyed our little cruise on the Alliance out of Yorktown. The crew and captain were very friendly and informative about the boat and local history. I expected something a little more structured, but we would do it again and recommend it to a friend.

Crew was friendly, professional, and very accommodating. The ship was in terrific shape and the entire cruise was enjoyable and very educational as we had never been on a working ship under sail. Really enjoyed being involved in raising the sails as the start of the trip. Have spoken to many of our family and friends about the trip ad highly recommend it for everyone.

Family Fun For All

We took our 2 grandchildren(ages 13 and 10) on this sailing trip while in Yorktown. We enjoyed the activity of pulling this sail and pulling that sail and the fact that the crew let various passengers help. The crew was extremely helpful with anything(questions, lending helping hands for getting up and down, etc.) We had great wind and the ship moved quickly and the children loved it when it felt as if it was going to tip right over when we made some turns! We thought it well worth the money!

Great Family fun but not for children under 3.

Our family included a set of grandparents, two daughters, one spouse, and five kids between 21 months and 12 years. However half of them did not make it to the ship in time and missed the trip. We waved to them on shore as we sailed down the river! It had been raining all morning and they were not sure we would sail. I cautioned them to be there on time anyway but they were delayed having Easter dinner 15 miles from the ship. It was a cold windy day but that is pretty much what we expected and we were prepared with hoodies, heavy coats, gloves, and lined pants!! The crew were knowledgeable and made good presentations. The grandfather and one of the 10 year old grandson enjoyed helping raise the sails, learning about the bridge, the ship and the crew. It was well worth the price...even with the missing 5 family members. In the future, I would wait for late April or early May before going out. We were gone just about 2 hours which was suitable. Very enjoyable...a different pace from most tourists activities.

We enjoyed the sail although there wasn't any wind to actually sail. Even though we motored during the trip, the trip was very relaxing and enjoyable. The crew was friendly and moved about the ship to speak with customers and answer questions or just pass the time. The crew provided information about the ship, history of the area and "things to do" suggestions. I recommend the trip for all.

Unfortunately No Wind

Very peaceful way to see the area, and Captain Greg was very knowledgeable, however we had very little wind, so most of the trip was powered, and very little under sail. Would still recommend it. You cannot change Nature!!

Lovely tour

The sailing trip was interesting and peaceful. The only drawback was the uncomfortable seating. If you have back problems, you might want to bring a cushion or stadium seat (no chairs, there's nowhere to put one). The crew was very pleasant and made the voyage fun.

Beautiful evening cruise

We very much enjoyed the beauty of the ship and the Yorktown River. The sunset on the water was great. The 3 crew members were very congenial and provided any information that was asked. We got a little history of the area, but would have preferred a bit more. There weren't many of us on board (only 5 passengers that evening) and that might have been the reason there were not too many questions asked. The water was very calm and that made it even more enjoyable.
