Schooners Alliance & Serenity

The short cruise was nice and staff provided a little history of Yorktown. We wished we had gone further up the river and been given a little current info about the area.

It was a great cruise in the river York. Because of the high winds our schooner was really motoring in the water. There were times the pitch of the boat was so steep you had to hold on to something. The captain and his crew gave us the history of the region and info about the schooner itself

The Schooner Alliance is a beautiful ship with a fun and friendly crew. The two hour sail was delightful!

Beautiful weather on a masterfully crafted schooner. Captain Eric provided entertaining information about the ship and the life of the modern sailor. The detailed woodwork and beautiful flooring in the galley make the ladder stairwell worth the trip below. This is a highly enjoyable cruise if you are looking for beautiful skies and scenic vistas uninterrupted by the constant drone of canned narration about what happened here and there. We highly recommend this cruise if you prefer a low-key, natural setting. No raucus party music ... Just the symphonic sounds of ship playing in the waves. It was not over-crowded. We've participated in similar outings elsewhere and this was by far the best.

Both the Captain and his two crew members were studious in providing appropriate safety, opportunities to take part in setting the sails and spent their time chatting with those on the sail who wanted to talk. nice selection of beverages, limited snacks (make arrangements for a dinner before or after). Depending on the wind, you may or may not make it to the mouth of the river before the ship is turned around. But you will get to see a beautiful sunset!

The sunset cruise was awesome! The crew shared a lot of Yorktown history and were very friendly. If you want something special to do I strongly suggest the sunset cruise.

If you are an experienced sailor, this sail is boring except for the beautiful scenery. It probably would be more exciting when the wind is stronger and the river is rougher. The crew does all the work and the passengers just watch (four people did get to help hoist the sails which took just a couple of minutes each sail, but the rest just sat there). If you were at the rear, where the skipper steers the ship, he did occasionally point out some features on land, but if you were at the front, you wouldn't be able to hear. Highlight was when they fired the canon while under the Colman Bridge and the bang riccocheted several times, sounding almost like a machine gun. Overall, a very pleasant and relaxing couple of hours and the sunset was wonderful.

My husband took me on the sunset cruise to celebrate my 50th birthday! The crew was friendly and the night that we went, August 16th, was beautiful. Have wonderful pictures to remember the evening!

We had 11 family members together for my father-in-law's birthday. Employees were helpful and knowledgable. We purchased the optional lunches. They were a good size and delicious.

Sadly our trip was canceled due to weather. We understnad and appreciate that safety is a major factor!! We hope we can reschedule and give a full review!!

Very pleasant experience. A little warm our day (July 8th) that day but that is mother nature. I would have liked the captain to have been a little more talkative. He seemed to be pretty knowledgeable but little to say unless spolen to.

It would have been nice to have the choice for a rain check or not. The wind velocity was zero. The motor was used the whole way. I wish we could have returned on a day with wind.

I highly recommend sailing the York River onboard the Alliance schooner. The captain and the crew took great care of us and gave us a terrific experience. We will have to repeat this one day!

For tickets that cost 35.00 each you'd think there would be enough seating for all passangers. I was extremely uncomfortable the entire trip.

The sunset cruise was a wonderful exprience for both my fiance and me. We thorougly enjoyed the cruise and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing evening.
