Perhaps tells us upfront at start of cruise that it will probably take an hour to get to the prime viewing area- at least for grays; I don't know where you see the others. Then we won't be wondering why we're riding for so long. Same for return trip- do like the fishing boats: announce when it's time to break off and head for home.
Captain and deckhand were friendly, courteous, helpful etc. Enjoyed a really clean boat- especially the head!
Enjoyed the time spent with the Risso dolphins and the information that was provided. Very good.
My 12 and 15 yr old grandsons gave the trip rave reviews, in spite of one being a bit sea sick. Both want to go again. |

| I received a call the day prior to the cruise telling me that the forecast was for choppy sea conditions and that not enough people had booked to make the trip worthwhile. I was offered a refund, tickets or reschedule. We selected rescheduling but have yet to find a date that works for both my wife and me. |

| Captain Noel and Deckhand Hillary gave us a great day, as they have done on my previous trips. There weren't millions of whales - about 6 California Greys in fact - and we had to run down to the south end of the bay to get to them. But the sun was bright and hot, the water was calm and the distance seemed to melt away. When we reached the whales we respected them by standing off slightly. But everyone on board got good sightings of the animals and plenty of clear tail flukes. The information impacted by Noel & Hillary thoughout the day was invaluable and added to the overall pleasure.
I am from UK and only get the opportunity to go whale watching when I'm in california for business and can stretch the business across a weekend! (Once, maybe twice in a year). I'm looking forward to my next weekend in California and looking at some more whales. |

| We enjoyed our boat ride very much. The weather was beautiful and the crew was very nice and friendly. We saw a few otters and seals and then about 3 gray whales. The whales were mostly underwater and they only came up occassionally, where we saw their backs and a small amount of their tail. It was a nice trip, but our expectations were probably a bit too high. We had hoped to see more animals. |

| We feel safe on the Sanctuary Cruises tours, and we know they will take us to the whales and/or dolphins in the area because the captain communicates with other boats' captains to learn where the animals are. The captain provides interesting information about the whales, dolphins, or other animals, and he never gets too close to the animals. The boat is clean, and the snacks are nice. The captain rents wrist bands which definitely prevent motion sickness (I know from experience I would have been very ill if I hadn't worn one). |

| Captain Noel really knew his stuff. He guided us to Gray and "killer" whales and provided engaging background information along with his own sense of delight in encountering the creatures he has surely seen hundreds of times before. Sanctuary offers a wonder-full opportunity to its passengers. |

| The weather on the day of our tour was cold, rainy and windy, but the crew and presentation basically made us forget the weather. The tour left on time and the boat was not crowded (compared to another we saw later that morning, which seemed packed), so there was ample room to move around. The crew was helpful, friendly, approachable and informative. They kept us apprised of what we were doing, where we were going and when we would get there. We were lucky enough to spot a big pod of California gray whales, and the captain kept us right with them so that we were able to see them surface and dive several times. All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience. Yes, you pay more than some other tours, but you are out there longer and it's not crowded, giving you plenty of chances to get a good view without jockeying for position. |

| Despite the poor weather and choppy water on Jan. 20th, the trip was fantastic, and I would do it again. Lots of whales and jellies!
I would recommend taking a Dramamine ahead of time, as I was the only one in our party that had done so, and I fared the best --no sickness whatever. We all rented the relief bands, with varying results.
The crew, especially Jane, was fabulous! |
