INFORMATIVE AND FUN

When I booked the trip, I didn't realize we would actually get to go to one of the barrier islands. A walk on the beach was a special treat after a long cold winter. We got to go shelling and found some really nice ones. In addition, the nature guide brought up a crap trap and told us all about the crabs, letting us hold them if we wanted before throwing them back in. We also saw dolphins several times. Both the guide and the captain were friendly and informative about the history of the area and the wildlife that is found there. Due to the smaller size of this boat, it could be beached to allow us to go shelling.

A Different Side of Charleston
Fri, Apr 13, 07   2:00 PM mariedole Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We found that the nature tour on the water gave us a look at a different side of Charleston. We had been to the plantations and house tours, but this was different and enjoyable. While on the boat we saw lots of porpoises, birds, etc. We enjoyed the walk on the island beach and found a beautiful sand dollar, which we brought home as a souvenir. The captain and the naturalist were very informative about the sea life in the harbor. I learned so many things about the blue crab that I never knew before. We lucked out ; the crab trap had a nice supply of crabs in it when they pulled it up. The only advise I would give would be to take a jacket with you. We were a little cold being out on the water in April even though we wore sweaters. So go enjoy a different side of Charleston.

Our 11 year old daughter loved the tour. Don't let the title "nature" tour fool you, there's much more especially the beautiful sights. I would highly recommend this tour.

Great 2 hours spent

A lot packed into the 2 hours. Uninhabited barrier island visit was awesome, everyone found lots of shells. Interesting Info about history and local industry was also included. Captain made point to stop and look for dolphins even if running a few minutes behind schedule--saw lots of dolphins- great photo opportunities!!!! Wil, the naturalist, and the captain were personable and friendly. They also offered lots of information about downtown attractions and parking areas. Don't forget to tip the naturalist/first mate - they go all out for you!

Had a Blast !

Pre-back to school trip for me, wife, and 10 year old son. Pretty much a last minute decision and glad we made it. Fortunately for us a very small group participated on this overcast day and we basically had the staff and boat to ourselves. Very enjoyable and educational excursion. Saw numerous dolphin, the kids loved learning facts about the blue crabs we were able to retrieve from the crabpots, and everyone had a blast collecting a variety of seashells from the beach along Morris Island. The crew was very personable and took time to explain numerous historical points, landmarks along the way, and facts about local marine life. Parking was convenient to the dock (and free), ticket purchase was uncomplicated, and the overall experience surpassed our expectation. If I had to find a downside (and it's hard to) I guess we'd suggest adding another hour or two to the trip as no-one was really ready to leave so soon. We had a blast and would certainly recommend adding this attraction to your vacation itenerary.......well worth the $$.

Great Tour

This tour was fantastic! The guides on board were very informative about Charleston and the surrounding habitats. We were able to see crab pots pulled containing blue crabs, cruise through the harbor to see the shrimping boats at Mt. Pleasant, follow dolphin pods, and go shelling on Morris Island. I would definately recommend going on a day they stop at Morris Island. We were there about 30 minutes, but I wish we could have stayed there all day to look through the cool things that washed ashore. I would definately recommend and would go again!

Enjoyed our tour with our daughter and granddaughter. The tour guides did a good job, but I thought we might see more in wildlife. But still enjoyed ourselves. Thanks, Lester Park
