Activity Description
The Meatpacking District, an extension of the West Village, is probably the hottest neighborhood in the city right now, with its collection of celebrity chefs, clubs, galleries and boutiques. Combined with its neighboring Chelsea Market , a food mall like no other, it makes for an interesting tour of grit, glamour and gourmet.
Highlights of this four-hour tour include:

  • Full breakfast at Pastis
  • An historic walk through the Gansevoort Market
  • Browsing at a
    trendy boutique
  • A panoramic view of the area
  • Multiple tastiings in the Chelsea Market
We start off with a full breakfast of eggs, pastries, etc. at Pastis, still one of the most popular restaurants in New York City. We then take a walk through what used to be the Gansevoort Market, now called the Meatpacking District, taking in the quaint combination of food wholesalers, meat packers, trendy restaurants, galleries, and boutiques. Our next stop is just a block away, the Chelsea Market, a most unusual food hall. There we can shop and taste our way through two dozen great establishments: a kitchen supply store, fruit and vegetable store, Italian specialty foods, bread, desserts, fish, dairy, soups, flowers, etc.

What Is Not Included?
If you think you might want to make additional purchases along the way, please bring cash and/or a credit card. We will be happy to suggest where to buy the best products in the neighborhood.
