The Insider's Little Italy
Fri, May 27, 05   11:00 AM rubyagore Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
A delightful afternoon spent with vivacious, knowledgeable guide, Addie Tomei. She took us to a whole series of amazing markets where we were treated like one of the family and urged to sample, sample, sample! I have spent a considerable amount of time in Italy, and at times, this little triangle of the Bronx felt more Italian than Italy with Italian music and banter filling the air. We concluded our tour with a lunch at Roberto's that I shall never forget. My advice to anyone interested in Italian food and culture--Do not miss this opportunity! It will be a highlight of your visit to New York.

See the "Real Little Italy in New York"

My friend and I were looking for something fun and different to do while in New York. We decided on a tour through Savory Sojourns. We did the Arthur Avenue tour of Little Italy in the Bronx with Addie Tomei and Aida. What a great day we had. This tour made you feel like you were in Italy. Mike's deli was great watching them make mozarella cheese and the lunch at Roberto's was fabulous. Addie and Aida were great and I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the "Real Little Italy in New York". Brenda Hotham

Well beyond my expectations.

This tour was absolutely amazing. It went far beyond anything I expected and was certainly worth three times what I paid for the ticket. Addie was personable, knowledgeable, funny and enthusiastic. By the end of the tour, she made everyone feel as if we were all old friends and she is definately someone you would like to see again and have coffee with. I am a pastry chef in Charleston, SC and food is my life's passion. I learned so much on this tour and tasted and experienced a quality and product that I had not seen before. Every vendor we visited was polite, informative and genuinely excited to have us there and share their craft. I would definately take this tour again and have recommended it to all of my friends. It was by far the highlight of my trip to New York. Thank You Addie. Thank You Savory Sojourns.

This was a delightful tour. Addie is a superb guide--knows her stuff & she is articulate, humorous, well organized, & classy (as befits the very best kind of native New Yorker). We thoroughly enjoyed our day with her in Bronx's Little Italy and would enthusiastically endorse Savory Sojurns Tours to others. Well done & thanks! Jean & Tom Penny, St. Augustine, FL.

As returning Savory Sojourns enthusiasts, my mother and I had yet another wonderful experience with Addie Tomei--this time on her tasty and informative tour of the Bronx's Arthur Avenue. Addie took us to the best places to shop and eat in the real Little Italy--I now feel like an "insider." Highly suggested tour. Mille grazie, Addie! Ci vediamo!

My husband and I enjoyed our tour with Addie of Arthur Ave. very much. She knows just the right places to take you to sample the local "goods". And they were good!! Highly recommend Addie as a guide and the tour both; if using public transportation it is a bit of a walk from subway drop off to Arthur Ave. but as long as the weather is pleasant not a negative in our experience.

Our favorite day in NYC
Fri, Jul 27, 07   10:15 AM jsupino26 Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
We were in New York for four days. Two days general sightseeing, one day for a major league baseball game and a play in the evening and one day with Addie in The Bronx. Going to Arthur Avenue was "the best". A perfect day: a wonderful hostess to guide us, great stops along the way, fantastic lunch at Roberto's, and good company to enjoy it all with. What more could you ask?

Visit Italy in the Bronx

The tour included visits to Italian specialities stores within a few blocks, and ended with a meal at a very scenic restaurant named Zero, Otto Nove. Several of the visits included a talk with the owner or free samples. My favorite part was the visit to the Terranova Bakery and the opportunity to see the brick ovens heated by coal.
