Excellent day out - strongly recommend

I booked this for a birthday treat for my wife as part of our trip to New York, and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this or any other tour with Savory Sojourns. Addie was a fantastic host, and the fact that everyone else on our tour was a "repeat customer" put our minds at rest instantly. The tour of Little Italy was fantastic, we visited all types of food emporiums, cheese making demonstrations, tastings everywhere and ending up with a great meal, in a restaurant we would never have otherwise found. Have no worries at all about booking a tour with this company, it is a genuine treat for anyone who enjoys a great day out (and also with a fondness for food!!)

Connect with community.

We enjoyed every minute of our tour with Addie. From her bright enthusiastic greeting to her warmly relating to everyone in the group we soon were a walking group of new friends. Her running commentary was always tailored to the planned included components of the tour and the unexpected things that developed and occurred as we walked the area. Her love for her community and City was clearly on display. The foods we tasted and dined on were all exceptional. All three of us, parents and twenty-five year old look forward to our next visit to New York and a tour of another section of the City with Addie.

Scrumptiously satisfying

We had a wonderfully entertaining and informative tour. For most of us, it was our first visit to New York. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. It was an excellent way to learn the area history and also gave us insight into changes that will be occuring in the future. Highly recommended. Would love to do another tour when we make it back to the city.

A Warm, Wonderful, Delicious Day
Wed, May 14  10:00 AM TaraNick Female 40-49 Local Group of Friends
We really enjoyed this tour- Ms. Tomei brought new insights into the Village to native New Yorkers- the tasting stops were delicious, the mini-history lessons enlightening, and lunch was wonderful. Unlike some tours, all the vendors were happy to see us (probably due to our small group size and their long-standing relationship with our 'leader') Save up your $$$ and sign up- you will not be disappointed!

An unforgettable day!!
Fri, May 9  10:00 AM mweinberg Male 30-39 Local Couple on a Date
As a birthday treat for my wife, I surprised her with a culinary walking tour of Greenwich Village. We met Addie and the rest of the group in an authentic Italian coffee shop in the Village where we enjoyed a delicious pastry and outstanding coffee. Addie described the itinerary for the day and we were off. The day could not have gone any better. Addie is very warm and friendly. As importantly, she is extremely knowledgeable, both about the history of the island and about the culinary treasures that are available along the way. As local Manhattanites we were fascinated by the gems that were revealed to us! From the best Mozzarella that we have ever tried (freshly made on the premises) to un-pasteurized honey that was imported from Mexico, the many tasting that we enjoyed along the way were all very tasty and a lot of fun. According to my wife - this was the best birthday surprise ever. I had a blast, and can't wait to go on my next tour with Savory Sojourn!!!

A great neighborhood orientation

Aida is an excellent tour guide. A fun, small group of people--I did not envy the other tour groups we ran into with 30+ people! Excellent sampling of what Greenwich Village has to offer in its markets and shops. A very good pace for a tour. Four hours flew by. Although it was billed as an architecture and culinary tour, it definitely skewed to the culinary destinations--which was perfect for my tastes, but may not meet others' expectations. I'm enjoying all my tasty souvenirs, and planning for my next visit to the city with all the educational materials I received.

Great overall tour of Soho and Little Italy
Sat, Mar 15  9:30 AM taphillips Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The food tour was very enjoyable and insightful. The stops selected for the tour were diverse and interesting. We also truly enjoyed and appreciated Addie sharing with us some of her knowledge of the local area's history and architecture. There is so much to do in NYC and this is truly one of those "must do's". We've recommended the tours to several of our friends already.

Would definitely go again!
Sat, Mar 15  9:30 AM Kristin29 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
I had been looking forward to this trip since I had first purchased the tickets. I love food and I love New York and even though I live only an hour or so from the city, I don't have much time to really know where to go. So this day trip was perfect for me! It gave you a chance to just enjoy letting somebody else do the research and work for you. Addie (our tour guide) was great. She was extremely knowledgeable on many topics. She told us a little bit of trivia and history about certain buildings thoughout SOHO and Little Italy and it was very interesting. She was funny and warm and the type of person you like immediately upon meeting. All of the food and tastings were excellent! I am already trying to decide which tour to go on next. I recommend this for the tourist and local alike.

good show and enthusiastic tour guide
Fri, Dec 28, 07   9:30 AM hokiehardy Male 70+ Local Individual
The group was a perfect size, including the guide, 7 in number. This allowed for good questions, few delays along the way and much interest. The guide was interested in pleasing and was delightfully informative. The food places we stopped at were definitely New York and the service and food were excellent. Especially good was the restaurant in Little Italy, Cortile, on Mulberry Street. It was the last stop on the tour and it left everyone well satisfied and enthusiastic about returning to NY real soon. Being a retired New Yorker, and seeing the joy the tour brought to the out-of-towners, it made me want to be a tour guide at some point down the road. Happy New Year!! Don't hesitate to put this tour(s) on your itinerary when in NYC.

A New York Highlight
Sat, Nov 10, 07   10:00 AM sharontowns Female 30-39 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Five of us went on the Brooklyn tour with guide Eileen and cannot recommend it highly enough. We said to Addie in advance that we were more keen on food than art and this was taken into account. The tour stops were interesting, with Jacques Torres a particular highlight. Our only complaint would be that the area covered was pretty small so we never got a chance to walk off any of the food tasted. My advice is that you do not book dinner for the evening following this tour! Eileen was a brilliant tour guide and really made the tour very special. Ignore any negative comments on this site about this tour - we did and we had an amazing time.

Small group size was a plus. Addie Tomei is the type of person that makes you feel like you have know her forever. Now I know why I have always liked her daughter...Because her mother is so like able. A lot of interesting information about the neighborhood and the tasting of some very good foods. The cooking school was excellent,a very clean, warm, friendly atmosphere. Our family really had a wonderful time. Thanks Addie

Fun and informative but not quite what I expected
Sat, Nov 10, 07   10:00 AM thylacine Male 40-49 Unspecified Unspecified
The walk was informative, friendly and fun, mainly thanks to our guide Eileen who was a talkative local. However there really was very little walking, we missed the galleries (which had been a signifcant part of my reason for doing the tour) and the water taxi was not available on the day. To me these things were not critical as I had time to go and see the galleries afterwards, but they would prevent me from recommending the tour.

Visit Italy in the Bronx
Sat, Oct 27, 07   9:45 AM rcieri Male 40-49 Local Family Without Children
The tour included visits to Italian specialities stores within a few blocks, and ended with a meal at a very scenic restaurant named Zero, Otto Nove. Several of the visits included a talk with the owner or free samples. My favorite part was the visit to the Terranova Bakery and the opportunity to see the brick ovens heated by coal.
