Wonderful Morning
Sat, Dec 2, 06   9:45 AM WHenderson Male 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Addie, Both Christine and I had the most wonderful morning with your sister-in-law Eileen who managed to show us a view of Greenwich Village which we could not possibly have managed on our own. I am sorry it has taken so long to actually send a review but at long last I have gotten around to it. Every shop or location we visited was extremely welcoming, probably due in no small measure to Eileen's charm & lovely personality. Neither of us can actually name our favourite stop, they were all exciting. The other couple from California on that mornings tour were lovely and I can honestly say that the tour was the highlight of our visit to New York. The next time we are in New York we shall definitely take another of your tours and indeed have passed on our highest reccomendations to our friends here in Scotland. Bill & Christine Henderson

Well beyond my expectations.

This tour was absolutely amazing. It went far beyond anything I expected and was certainly worth three times what I paid for the ticket. Addie was personable, knowledgeable, funny and enthusiastic. By the end of the tour, she made everyone feel as if we were all old friends and she is definately someone you would like to see again and have coffee with. I am a pastry chef in Charleston, SC and food is my life's passion. I learned so much on this tour and tasted and experienced a quality and product that I had not seen before. Every vendor we visited was polite, informative and genuinely excited to have us there and share their craft. I would definately take this tour again and have recommended it to all of my friends. It was by far the highlight of my trip to New York. Thank You Addie. Thank You Savory Sojourns.

Fun But Overpriced
Thu, Sep 28, 06   10:00 AM vpeters Female 50-59 Local Other
The tour was enjoyable, and lunch was great, but thought it was a bit expensive for what we got. Addie is knowledgeable, interesting and good at what she does, but the stops at the culinary shops (i.e. Sur La Table & Dean & DeLucca) were too short to really be of any value. The Italian & Spanish deli stops were very good, as was the chocolate shop, and the samples were good. Lunch was delicious and plentiful. A fun day but a bit overpriced for what it was. Cut the price to $100 per person and you'd have a true winner!

Fun and informative but not quite what I expected

The walk was informative, friendly and fun, mainly thanks to our guide Eileen who was a talkative local. However there really was very little walking, we missed the galleries (which had been a signifcant part of my reason for doing the tour) and the water taxi was not available on the day. To me these things were not critical as I had time to go and see the galleries afterwards, but they would prevent me from recommending the tour.

Small group size was a plus. Addie Tomei is the type of person that makes you feel like you have know her forever. Now I know why I have always liked her daughter...Because her mother is so like able. A lot of interesting information about the neighborhood and the tasting of some very good foods. The cooking school was excellent,a very clean, warm, friendly atmosphere. Our family really had a wonderful time. Thanks Addie

A Warm, Wonderful, Delicious Day
Wed, May 14, 08   10:00 AM TaraNick Female 40-49 Local Group of Friends
We really enjoyed this tour- Ms. Tomei brought new insights into the Village to native New Yorkers- the tasting stops were delicious, the mini-history lessons enlightening, and lunch was wonderful. Unlike some tours, all the vendors were happy to see us (probably due to our small group size and their long-standing relationship with our 'leader') Save up your $$$ and sign up- you will not be disappointed!

Great overall tour of Soho and Little Italy

The food tour was very enjoyable and insightful. The stops selected for the tour were diverse and interesting. We also truly enjoyed and appreciated Addie sharing with us some of her knowledge of the local area's history and architecture. There is so much to do in NYC and this is truly one of those "must do's". We've recommended the tours to several of our friends already.

Gallery a misnomer
Fri, May 12, 06   10:00 AM ssabater Female 50-59 Local Other
I enjoyed that the size of the group was small and the leader, Addie Tomei, is very personable and enthusiastic. However, the "gallery" portion of the tour was completely lacking and might have been helped if the tour operator had done some research. The tour started at 10AM but most galleries do not open until 12 Noon. We walked around (the views, as advertised, are spectacular) but were eventually able to get into only 1 very small photographic gallery. Another gallery we tried to get into was closed to install a new exhibit. It seems someone could have called ahead. After the 1 gallery we had lunch and it was time for the tour to end after a quick stop at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. I would have enjoyed knowing more about the creative aspect of this neighborhood and that was not part of the tour.

A New York Highlight
Sat, Nov 10, 07   10:00 AM sharontowns Female 30-39 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Five of us went on the Brooklyn tour with guide Eileen and cannot recommend it highly enough. We said to Addie in advance that we were more keen on food than art and this was taken into account. The tour stops were interesting, with Jacques Torres a particular highlight. Our only complaint would be that the area covered was pretty small so we never got a chance to walk off any of the food tasted. My advice is that you do not book dinner for the evening following this tour! Eileen was a brilliant tour guide and really made the tour very special. Ignore any negative comments on this site about this tour - we did and we had an amazing time.

Absolutely Wonderful

The tour of Arthur Ave was fun and informative. Addie has a great ability to captivate you with her knowledge of the history of Little Italy in the Bronx along with wonderful stories of growing up in the area. The local artisans in the food shops were delightful, friendly and helpful. The numerous food samples we were offered were phenominally tasty as was our lunch. We will definitely schedule another tour soon.

SO worth it!

Initially, I was hesitant about commiting such a substantial amount of time and money in one activity when our trip seemed too short to begin with!...I'm SO glad that I did! Our guide, Eileen, (Addie's sister-in-law) was wonderful...it was like have a relative in the city!...it didn't take long at all for our group of eight to become friends and it seemed when it was over that no one wanted to leave. We had such a facinating, informative and enjoyable day...dare I say...'magical!' I'll be scheduling my next trip to NYC around what Addie has to offer!!

The Insider's Little Italy
Fri, May 27, 05   11:00 AM rubyagore Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
A delightful afternoon spent with vivacious, knowledgeable guide, Addie Tomei. She took us to a whole series of amazing markets where we were treated like one of the family and urged to sample, sample, sample! I have spent a considerable amount of time in Italy, and at times, this little triangle of the Bronx felt more Italian than Italy with Italian music and banter filling the air. We concluded our tour with a lunch at Roberto's that I shall never forget. My advice to anyone interested in Italian food and culture--Do not miss this opportunity! It will be a highlight of your visit to New York.
