| My husband and I enjoyed the tour very much. We had no idea what to expect and were pleasently surprised. Our guide was knowledgable about the area - interesting bits of information and history and the samples of food and drink were much to our liking. We would definitely recommend this. | ||||||

Seattle Food Walking Tour - Fantastic!!

| My husband and I went on the Seattle Food Walking Tour on Sat., Sept. 15, 2007. It was a wonderful experience. When we started the tour, we were given a shopping bag, bottle of water, wash 'n dry (all the essentials we'd need), and a list of restaurants in town. We met at the incredible Macrina's Bakery and sampled freshly-baked bread that tasted like cake. This is a hot spot in town, don't miss it... it was packed! We started our walk and learned all about Seattle, the heritage, each street that we walked on, the stores, homes, apartments, condos, and loads of restaurants. We then stopped at a fantastic coffee shop where we had an artistic latte where the cream was designed like a heart. (You don't see that at Starbucks!) We were able to sit for awhile and learn the history of the cafe, and see the specialty breads, cakes, and unique menu. Next, Pike's Place Market (most famous tourist attraction in Seattle), where we saw the fish mongers singing, throwing fish, and wrapping everything in a way we had never seen before. We sampled a fresh salmon cocktail which was outstanding. Next ... Pike's Place Chowder for the best chowder we've ever eaten, and they must have had a list of a dozen types of chowders (we had the incredible seafood chowder). We walked along the Market and saw all kinds of very fresh foods, crafts, jewelry, fruits, flowers, etc. being sold. Our next stop was a Mexican Restaurant for nachos, Salsa, guacamole, and Quesadillas (and I can't eat spicy food but this was outstanding). A superb culinary chocolate shop - Rose's Chocolates, followed. It had every type of chocolate imaginable as well as unthinkable combinations of spices, vegetables, fruits, and more dipped in chocolate that I never would have dreamed of - quite tasty. We were even given a private lecture on chocolates and a box of chocolates to take with us as a gift. Finally, we stopped at an incredible bakery that made unbelievable coconut pie (and we're from Florida so we know coconut pie!). Not only did we have LARGE samples of foods from every place that we stopped at, but we could also sit for awhile (and use the rest rooms at each stop). Our tour leader, Bronwyn Gerberding, was not only knowledgable of everything in Seattle, but very personable. She made the tour extremely interesting... never a boring moment, and did we eat well!!! I'd recommend this trip for tourists and certainly, locals, who are interested in different foods, restaurants, night life, and a great way to start a vacation, so you know where to eat during your trip. And as a thank you from Bronwyn (if you can believe that SHE was thanking us, when we couldn't do enough to thank her!), she gave us a package of Seattle's famous chocolate covered Bing Cherries... to die for! Bronwyn's personality lit up the tour, and the foods she chose as samples, and the stops she made were just PERFECT! Don't hesitate to go on this tour for one minute! Truly memorable, and a culinary treat! | ||||||

| The guide was great. Very upbeat and knowledgeable. Not only were we informed about the foods in Belltown but we also learned about the history of the city and its architecture. The establishments we visited were all very good (in fact we returned to Pike Place Chowder on Monday for lunch - the guy behind the counter was suggesting the tour to out of town patrons). We will definitely do this tour again and enthusiastically suggest it to friends visiting the city. A great value for the money. A question...does Seattle Food Tours have another tour that visits other eating establishments? | ||||||

| My husband and I took the tour on a Thursday and it was a small group(4). Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and took very good care of us. She provided us with interesting information and lovely tastes from some local establishments. We also really enjoyed the others in our group. All in all, I would highly recommend this tour (and have to our local relatives) | ||||||

| It was a very casual walking tour through Belltown and Pike Place area with great samples of bakeries, seafood, BBQ, and coffee. We met some very interesting people on the tour, both locals and tourists from Redondo Beach, CA, and Austin Texas. Some people were going on a cruise later. Seems like a great opportunity before or after a cruise. The weather was wonderful on our tour although we were inside much of the time so a little rain wouldn't have dampened our spirists. We will be back to try out some of the restaurants we tasted on the tour! | ||||||

| Our guide Bronwyn was very knowledgeable about the area's restaurants--not just the menus, but with plentiful history about the place, its owners, and often commentary about building architecture. It was a delightful way to learn about Belltown and some of the eateries we've passed by for YEARS without even thinking about stepping inside. Now we have an insider's recommendations...and samples of the wares. Great Tour - we loved it! | ||||||

| The Seattle Food Tour was definitely one of the best parts of my trip to Seattle! Bronwyn was an excellent guide and not only introduced me to some of the great restaurants of the area, but also provided a very nice overview of some of the history of the city. It was truly a unique experience and one of the best "tourist" activities that I have ever done. I actually think that it would be a fun thing to do even if you live in the area. This tour is a must! | ||||||

| My wife and I were raised and have lived much of our lives in the Seattle area. However, this tour provided some new perspectives and information on a part of the city we had not explored before. Our guide was informative, fun, flexible and made the tour thoroughly enjoyable. We quickly recommended this tour to our family in the area and will strongly suggest that friends visiting Seattle take advantage of this great opportunity. | ||||||

| This was a wonderful experience to take in on a Saturday morning. Even living within half an hour from downtown Seattle and visiting on a regular basis, this tour provided us with a peek at some little known Seattle gems. This comes highly recommended for those that love Seattle, love food and love the opportunity to do something a little different. Our guide was very informative and a pleasure to be with. Only two items to take notice ~ wear walking shoes and do not have a grande latte five minutes before you start, one of the first stops was a local coffee house ;o). Otherwise, go, have fun, and enjoy yourself! | ||||||

| Originally I bought tickets for three as a Father's Day gift but as more of my family found out about it, more people wanted to come along, and we ended up as a party of seven. We had such a great time and have not stopped talking about it to anyone who will listen. Bronwyn was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing information about the architecture and culture of the neighborhoods along with helpful foodie hints. Our food samples were wonderful and we can't wait to try the local restaurants. I highly recommend this tour for locals as well as for area visitors. You will be surprised about the local gems you don't know about in your own back yard! | ||||||

| I took this tour with my parents who were visiting from Boston. I've lived in Seattle for seven years and work in the restaurant industry. The history of Belltown and the Market were very interesting and I definitely learned a lot. The restaurants we stopped and sampled at were great; some I had not been to before. This is a great tour to take at the start of a vacation, because you get lots of great restaurant recommendations. My parents have taken similar tours in Boston and appreciated the fact that on this tour the group got to sit down at the six or seven main stops, instead of standing for 2 1/2 hours straight. I would recommend it for locals, as well, since there was so much Seattle history given on the tour. | ||||||

| I think this tour is especially good for locals. I've lived in the area for 14 years and am a total foodie, but I still learned a lot. And the samples were great! The guide is also very good about accommodating people's food requests/preferences. Half of us weren't latte drinkers, so we were able to get hot chocolate instead. I am allergic to cilantro, so she made sure the sample at the Mexican restaurant was cilantro-free. Thanks for a fun morning! | ||||||
