Great fun and good food!
Seattle Walking Food Tour of Belltown & Pike Place

My daughter in law and I joined the Friday morning tour with Carol. We started at a lovely little bakery, and ate our way across an informative and fun two+ hours. My daughter in law is 27 and lives in Seattle, I am from Portland; yet we had never heard of many of these restaurants. We tasted many delicious sample, learned about Belltown and Pike's history, and got helpful reviews of many fine and diverse restaurants. I highly recommend this tour for anyone.

The guide was excellent and provided an entertaining overview of the history and merchants of the Market. Favourite merchants we visited: Tea Shop: pleasant and interesting, Fish Shop: vibrant, friendly and great salmon jerky! Italian groceries: the cheese and rosemary salami were excellent, Italian Truffle Speciality Shop: informative, The Dried Fruit Stall: very friendly and excellent quality goods. Overall, a nice introduction to the Market for someone who has never been there before.

Carol our guide was friendly and informative, but the tour was not as I expected (hoped). I imagined a kind of progressive brunch, beginning with a Latte and a warm muffin (to be eaten sitting down) and then progressing through other "courses." We began at Macrina, but standing outside in the freezing cold. We got an apple coffee cake thing from Macrina (which was cold) which I didn't care for, then we went immediately to pork barbecue. (I'm vegetarian) Somewhere a little down the line, we had a chocolate, followed by salmon salad. We ended with a wonderful tiny piece of cocoanut cream pie (served cold, in the cold). I would recommend a different progression, vegetarian options at every stop, and no "out on the sidewalk standing up" eating. I'd also make sure each place had a significant contribution to make. One little place (Xtori) seemed very friendly, but we didn't even get a chance to sit at the counter (although no one else was in there) and their offering was a tiny tiny (quarter of a sugar cube) piece of cheese on a stick and a thin thin dime-sized piece of smoked meat (which I couldn't eat)- It's a nice idea- I hope it modulates into a progressive brunch. (Of the offerings, my son said the salmon salad was good, and we both liked the sweets)

We really enjoyed the tour and the food samples. It was a great introduction to Seattle restaurants for one of our group who will be spending the summer in the city, and for the others who will hopefully be visiting more often. The group leader was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about everything, and a very pleasant person to spend a few hours with. For food lovers like us, it was something we would certainly do again.

My friend and I found the tour fabulous. It helped orient us to several areas worth exploring. The foods and latte we sampled were delicious. Our guides were knowledgeable, friendly and willing to share additional information. They offered info on history, architecture, great shopping, more restaurants, eateries and night spots than you could possibly fit in -- though we tried. And they were right on target. I unreservedly recommend this tour to everyone.

Food Tour - 3 stars doesn't mean neutral

I gave the food tour three stars for a few reasons. I thought it was good, not great. I liked that there was opportunity to see parts of the market that I wouldn't have discovered on my own. Some of the tastes were a bit weak (dried fruit was OK and where did the donuts come from??). However, the chowder was a delicious generous portion and and it ended on a good note with a lovely anit-pasto platter at the pink door. I liked the history lesson of the market. I would have like the tour guide to be a little more active in pointing out things we were passing, not necessarily stopping at. For example - "on our left there is a great pastry shop you might want to stop and try after the tour..." Also, I think the tour guide could be more well versed in his presentation. Presenting in front of a group is always difficult but I expected a bit more polish on something that is done everyday (maybe several times a day). Overall the food portion was ok, but the information I got from the tour (where the wine tasting room was, information on the city and market in general) was the most valuable part of the tour. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could and I would recommend it to someone who is visiting the city. Thank you!

This was a fantastic way to enjoy a taste of Seattle, and learn about the history, and mix with others who enjoy food!!! The walk was pleasant, the group were all foodies, and we had a wonderful time. Bronlyn was just wonderful-explaining the history and culture of the area. She also made sure my food challenges were me-which I appreciated! I will recommmend this tour to EVERYONE.

This is a perfect event for locals or tourists at the begining of their trip as it gives you a sense of great places to eat. While some of the locations are "special event" type restaurants, the vast majority are places you could visit for a very nice meal on a regular basis. The guide was witty and full of great information, and she was very well organized. I would strongly suggest this tour.

Great tour and yummy food. I didn't expect to be full but it's true, it was more than enough for lunch. I wish I had more time in Seattle so I could try all the recommended restaurants!
