Pike Place Lunch Sampler

The tour was FABULOUS! We went on the Underground Tour the night previous and the guide added a little of history that meshed with that tour. My wife and I did it early in our trip and it helped us understand the market and the fine food that it offers. Great tour with a great tour guide and I would highly recommend it especially early in someones trip. We went on Saturday 6/20/09 at 1200.

Food Tour - 3 stars doesn't mean neutral
Wed, Jun 17  12:00 PM lmarty711 Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
I gave the food tour three stars for a few reasons. I thought it was good, not great. I liked that there was opportunity to see parts of the market that I wouldn't have discovered on my own. Some of the tastes were a bit weak (dried fruit was OK and where did the donuts come from??). However, the chowder was a delicious generous portion and and it ended on a good note with a lovely anit-pasto platter at the pink door. I liked the history lesson of the market. I would have like the tour guide to be a little more active in pointing out things we were passing, not necessarily stopping at. For example - "on our left there is a great pastry shop you might want to stop and try after the tour..." Also, I think the tour guide could be more well versed in his presentation. Presenting in front of a group is always difficult but I expected a bit more polish on something that is done everyday (maybe several times a day). Overall the food portion was ok, but the information I got from the tour (where the wine tasting room was, information on the city and market in general) was the most valuable part of the tour. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could and I would recommend it to someone who is visiting the city. Thank you!

Fun, informative, but not what I thought
Sun, Jun 14  12:00 PM clinstew7 Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We had a great experience with a knowledgeable guide, great stops at interesting places in Pike Place Market, and several "tastes" of the Market. However, either eat before or after you go because this is NOT a meal. Not sure why I thought it would be, but did have the expectation that I would be sitting down and eating at least at one place, but all we had were what amounted to heavy hor doerves. Bottom line of the experience was that it was worth the ticket price and would do it again.

My wife, daughter and myself had a great time on the tour. The guide was very knowledgable on the history of the area. The resturaunts were a good mix of different foods, styles of cooking and decore. In two of the resturaunts the owners came out and spoke, that was great . I'd like to see more of that. All in all worth the price.

Wonderful Food, Interesting walk
Fri, Jun 5  3:00 PM sallypullin Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Much was learned and interesting food consumed on this walk around Belltown. Our gracious guide told us much about how the area evolved over time and about people involved in creating that history. Generous bites of food was enjoyed at each stop especially the meatballs at Branzino's. I highly recommend this tour.

This was one of my favorite activities as a newbie to Seattle. Our guide Heather was very knowledgeable and fun. We loved all of the food that we tested and really liked being able to know the gems of the Market. It can be a very large and overwhelming place, but we were glad to know some places to be able to revisit and feel more at ease when we want to explore the next time.

No longer overwhelmed by Pike Place
Fri, May 22  11:30 AM kdabundo Female 40-49 Local Family Without Children
Even if you've been to Pike Place Market 25 times, it can still feel overwhelming. This tour was very enjoyable and included and pointed out many of the great eateries within the market. Our plan was to get lunch after the tour. Not necessary, the 9+ tastings was more than enough.

An interesting and fun activity

My husband and I composed the entire group for this tour. The guide, Penny, was informative and enthousiastic while presenting a history of Pike Street Market . We sampled delicious and interesting foods from many of the market"s producers and were introduced to many who talked about their specialties. This is a most worthwhile tour. It provided an intro to the market that we could not have gotten on our own.

Outstanding Tour.

Michael, our tour guide, did a superb job with this Belltown tour. It was a great mix of history, the Seattle food scene, restaurant visits, architecture, and great food and drink sampling. The tour also had a great personal touch. At each restaurant we learned about the owners, chefs and, in most cases, either the owner or chef greeted us. It was a great mix of establishments as well covering the entire food universe. Now I have some "must go to" restaurants on my next visit to Seattle. Another unexpected outcome from the tour was the opportunity to meet and talk with fellow tourists who, like ourselves, were there to learn and experience the best of Belltown. It made for an even more enjoyable tour as the congeniality of the group occurred almost instantly.

Learned so many new and fun things!

I brought my out of town guests on this tour. I'd been to the market many times before, but this tour was certainly off the beaten path. I learned so many new and fun things about the market, and about many of the owners. The restaurants and stalls we visited were superb, the food tastings were lovely and varied, and I will definitely bring other visitors in the future. What a delight!

We have taken tours all over the states and all over Europe, and this ranks with the very best of them. Take it your first day in Seattle and you'll know where to eat for a month. What a great idea: local history, places to eat, and samples all along the way! Do it. You will not regret it.

My wife and I really enjoyed this tour. The guide was very knowledgeable about the food in the area as well as some very good historical information about Belltown and Pikes Market. My only negative was it was hard to hear the guide at all times (downtown traffic and such). I know other tours use audio devices to allow for better hearing. This could be an additional feature at some point. Overall, the tour was very good and fun for us both.

Great! - Though we were Late!!
Seattle Walking Food Tour of Belltown & Pike Place

In imperfect weather, we were able to experience (for us in a perfect way) a taste of Seattle. Melinda and I planned this break from our 6 children. We did NOT have much time to spend in Seattle. This venue was perfect for us to experience the highlights of great foods in the Belltown/Pike's market area. We arrived late, and wasted 30 minutes waiting at the third resteraunt for the group. But we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. No excuses for being late (we were 12 mins late), but we would have preferred to join the group at whichever resteraunt they were in. We had a GPS, so we could have easily found our group. However, we were guided to meet at the 3rd resteraunt, and waited there for 30 mins. But this is truly an experience we will always remember! Sonny and Melinda
