Carol our guide was friendly and informative, but the tour was not as I expected (hoped). I imagined a kind of progressive brunch, beginning with a Latte and a warm muffin (to be eaten sitting down) and then progressing through other "courses." We began at Macrina, but standing outside in the freezing cold. We got an apple coffee cake thing from Macrina (which was cold) which I didn't care for, then we went immediately to pork barbecue. (I'm vegetarian) Somewhere a little down the line, we had a chocolate, followed by salmon salad. We ended with a wonderful tiny piece of cocoanut cream pie (served cold, in the cold). I would recommend a different progression, vegetarian options at every stop, and no "out on the sidewalk standing up" eating. I'd also make sure each place had a significant contribution to make. One little place (Xtori) seemed very friendly, but we didn't even get a chance to sit at the counter (although no one else was in there) and their offering was a tiny tiny (quarter of a sugar cube) piece of cheese on a stick and a thin thin dime-sized piece of smoked meat (which I couldn't eat)- It's a nice idea- I hope it modulates into a progressive brunch. (Of the offerings, my son said the salmon salad was good, and we both liked the sweets)

This was such a great experience. The hostess was so knowledgable - about the city, the sights, the restaurants, the chefs and the history. We only wish every city would make something just like this available. It was a tremendous resource and we used it over and over again during our stay in Seattle. We only ate at restaurants that she told us about - and she was right on in every case. If you can't tell, we loved it and would recommend it to everyone. We were able to experience things that we never would have on our own - and the tastings along the way were great - had a wonderful /breakfast/lunch during the two hour tour. Do it - you won't regret it! Best money we spent on the trip.

Carol was an excellent guide. She gave us the scoop on some divine chocolate from Rosie. She also steered us to some of the best Marsala we've ever had. Her companion Steve was also adept and spent time with all members of the tour. This tour was great. We had a walking five course meal while getting the lowdown on some of Seattle's finest eats. I would go on this tour again and bring my newbie friends along.

Better for locals than tourists
Seattle Walking Food Tour of Belltown & Pike Place

My husband and I moved to Seattle a few months ago, we noted a number of restaurants that we'd go back and try - based on the samples or the recommendations of the guide. However, my parents were visting from PA. They noted that they enjoyed the tour, but thought it was better suited to locals - who would have time/interest in coming back to visit the restaurants spoken about but not sampled. A lot of conversation was spent talking about "down this street there's a great Mexican restaurant and a bakery..." But, snipits of info on 40 restaurants isn't useful to people in town for a weeked. I think a better experience for tourists would be focusing on "Seattle staples" or samples @ notable resturants or food from notable chefs, then discuss more about seattle architecture (as you walk by the bldgs) or history - either of Seattle or the food. The number of samples was good, though more would always be better :); The portions were surprisingly large; Everything was delicious!

this was a great tour. I can't wait to try out all of the wonderful restaurants that were mentioned. Living near Seattle for so long and who knew?! At least now I have a goal in life... to eat at every single one!

We thoroughly enjoyed the tastes from the various restaurants, especially the chowder and the smoked salmon. Bronwyn was a very informative guide for both the history of the area and the restaurants. We would recommed this tour to anyone who would like to see a different side of Seattle.

We enjoyed this tour very much. Being new to the city, the tour provided great overview of the trendy Belltown area and Pike Place Market. Bronwyn was an excellent guide, who provided the standard information about the areas, as well as, much appreciated tidbits, such as, tourist traps and areas to avoid. She was very friendly and took an interest in everyone on the tour. At the end of the tour, we had a good feel for both areas and it was an excellent primer (including listings of all restaurants discussed) for both areas for our eventual unguided trips to Belltown and Pike Place. Oh yeah, the food and drink samples were great. Sign of good tour: A competitor was on the tour. On our trip to Pike Place Market the next day, to our surprise, we saw a fellow member of our tourist group leading a market tour of her own. I think SeattleFoods should get a cut.

This was a fun tour with a fun guide. Our guide was knowledgeable about food, the many different restaurants in the neighborhoods, and general history of the city. We got to visit restaurants and actually sit down in some to taste their food. The walk was at a moderate pace and it wasn't strenuous. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is new to city or to those who want to get a feel of what foods Seattle has to offer.

Most Enjoyable and Very Informative

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the many different restaurants on the tour. She provided fun details about each restaurant and about the owner of the establishment, as well as an informative/casual history lesson on Seattle, Belltown and the Pike Place Market areas. The samples we received were all delicious and nicely sized portions so that you could get a really good "taste". There were plenty of opportunities to rest along the way with sufficient bathroom breaks available. We only wish we had done this tour a little earlier in our stay so that we could take full advantage of the information provided. So many restaurants, so little time. This activity is a definite "must" for all newcomers to the Seattle area!
