Informative and fun
Sun, Oct 11  12:00 PM lyndamary Female 50-59 International Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
The guide was excellent and provided an entertaining overview of the history and merchants of the Market. Favourite merchants we visited: Tea Shop: pleasant and interesting, Fish Shop: vibrant, friendly and great salmon jerky! Italian groceries: the cheese and rosemary salami were excellent, Italian Truffle Speciality Shop: informative, The Dried Fruit Stall: very friendly and excellent quality goods. Overall, a nice introduction to the Market for someone who has never been there before.

Great tour filled with good eats, excellent history of Seattle Chefs and establishments and lots of humor to go along with it. We returned the next night to enjoy one of the restaurants on the tour.

Fun, Fun, FUN!
Fri, Sep 25  3:00 PM nedmiller Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Unspecified
Wow! What a fun tour! This tour, as well as the Pike Market tour, were definately highlights of our time in Seattle. Michael was our tour guide. He was so much fun! He was very well informed and a great communicator. The 2 1/2 - 3 hours flew by so fast. The restaurants he took us to were some of his personal favorites and he personally knew the chefs. We sampled the best sushi, tapas, crab cake sliders, gourmet brownies from a special bakery and a to-die-for rabbit, mushroom, chard wonder, made by Ashley, a contestant on the Top Chef TV show. We had a "photo op" with Ashley as well as were just able to visit with her and ask her questions. We had a glass of wine there. We also went to a wine bar and had another glass of wine accompanied with truffle butter popcorn. Michael told us about a lot of the other restaurants we weren't able to go to, in case we wanted to try them another time. The tour is moderate walking but we were able to sit down at most places. Don't miss it! It's well worth the money and the time! Ned & Diane - Cambridge, IA

Seattle Highlight!
Thu, Sep 24  12:00 PM nedmiller Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Unspecified
This tour was definately one of our Seattle highlights! We considered just seeing Pike Market on our own but decided to take the tour instead. This tour was well worth the money. Steve, our guide, was fun and very informative. He gave us just the right amount of history to make it interesting but not enough to make it boring. He took us to places we would have never found or gone to on our own. He took us to Pure Fish, and told us about his favorite fish monger (sp?) there as we ate a big sample of his favorite smoked salmon. We went to the "gum wall" in a back alley where thousands and thousands of of people stuck their already-chewed-gun on brick walls - VERY interesting!!!! :-) We'd have never found that on our own! It was a very fun thing to see. We sampled wonderful gelato, cheese & salami, best-of- the-best cookies, truffle popcorn, the best clam chowder in the world!, the only made- fresh-daily-crumpets (sp?) in the world! as well as enjoyed a wonderful antipasto plate at the Pink Door. I hope I didn't miss anything. The whole tour was great. Like I said, well worth the time and the money. Thank you, Steve! Ned & Diane - Cambridge, IA

Great Info & Food

Started out at the Tea Tasting - very good and informative. Guide (Steve) was very knowledgable and seemed to have good relations with the many vendors we visited. All the food tastes were delicious, and the antipasto plate at the Pink Door was a perfect finish. Lots of history and local knowledge. Recommend this tour!!

THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST FOOD TOURS SEATTLE HAS TO OFFER. I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH STEVE OUR TOUR GUIDE. STEVE EXPLAINED TO US ABOUT THE HISTOREY AND SHOWED US BEFORE AND AFTER PITCURES OF THE AREA. HIS KNOWLEDGE OF THE AREA AND ALL IT'S GREAT RESTURANTS BELLTOWN HAS TO OFFER . I WAS SO IMPRESSED THAT I WILL AGAIN TAKE THIS TOUR NEXT TIME I AM IN THE AREA. WHAT I WAS MOST IMPRESSED WAS THAT WE HAD A LARGE GROUP AND HE SEEMED TO GIVE EACH OF US INDUALVIGABLE ATTENTION. I SAW STEVE A FEW DAY'S LATER HE WAS DOING THE SAME TOUR WITH ONLY A PARTY OF THREE. I THINK THAT THIS HAS SOMETHING TO SAY FOR A PRIVATE TOUR . HAVE A GREAT TOUR ALL YOU FOODIES

I guess I was expecting too much...I had the Chicago food tour and it was FANTASTIC. Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest and LOVING the MARKET I had too high of expectations. The tour food was good and the market sparkled...the guide was cute but no history except to show a row of photos on public display...I just felt let down. The wine shop owner was the high-light - he made us feel like 'family'. The tour ended at the Pink Door...with us facing a cement wall and the beautiful sunny Puget Sound behind us... somewhere...(where the REAL guests of the restaurant could see it..it was 2:30 and they made us feel 2nd class!) I would take a different tour company and try again next time I'm back across the country just because I KNOW and love the market and all that it has to offer!...sad they didn't really show the market (only one great deli and 1 vendor stall-she said the market was too busy(?!) the tour was more of shops around it...she also didn't say if there were discounts b/c of the tour or have coupons or something so you could go back...I just didn't think they gave it 100%.

We found some hidden market gems
Sat, Sep 5  12:00 PM sylviaoats Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Our tour guide, Heather, was fabulous. She was very welcoming and got to know our group quickly. We were moved through the market expertly on a very busy Saturday. Even though we had been to the market several times, she showed us several hidden gems that we plan to visit again in the future. Our entire group of 4 thoroughly enjoyed the tour including the food. Thank you!

Great overview of the Market
Mon, Aug 31  12:00 PM hkfrye001 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Steve gave us a great overview of the market at a nice pace. He also provided a lot of good recommendations for restaurants in Seattle. We like Shiro's for shusi and Salty's in West Seattle for local cuisine and the view. Steve is not a "foodie", which surprised us so he was not as in to the food thing as we would have thought; but he knew the market well. While it isn't a lot of walking, there are a lot of stairs so anyone with a walking disability may want to think twice about the tour.

Michael provided lots of Belltown history, both recent and from the 1800's, including photos, and personally knew the chefs and owners of the spots he took us. Everything we ate and drank was tasty and representative of the hottest spots in Belltown. We made a dinner reservation at Branzino for the next evening while we were there on the tour, and the meal was one of our all time favorites, and we're from the Bay Area! It was a great way to open our visit to Seattle, and helped us feel knowledgable and comfortable throughout our stay. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in restaurants and food.
