Great way to taste your way through local history.

I was looking for something our college-aged son and I could do with only a day. Hiking was a bit far away. At the end of the tour he said he enjoyed it and had spotted one place he'd really like to come back to. I enjoyed hearing just about a small section of Seattle. I will write up the best of the best restaurant recommendations for my local Seattle friends as a way to say thank you for hosting me.

This was a good way to learn about local history and restaurants...the tour guide was excellent, knowledgeable and enthusiastic...her suggestions ran the gamut of coffee shops, bakeries, cafes, and pubs to fine dining...but the tastings did not include any upscale restaurants...perhaps that would be another tour.

It was fun and educational. My only regret is that I took the tour toward the end of my vacation. I had no time to go back to get the full experience of the restaurants. I guess it gives me a reason to come back to Seattle.

The tour leader is knowledgable about the local eateries, Chefs and Seattle history. She sprinkles little tidbits throughout about Belltown and how it came to be what it is today. Along the way, she describes highlights of resturants and their specialities. I will keep coming back to this particular tour anytime I have family or friends who haven't yet experienced the best tour offered in Seattle.

Somewhat disappointed in one sense, however...

While the places we saw and our tour leader's talk about them was delightful, I would have liked to have seen the inside of the kitchens or have had more talks from the people who made the food . I guess I was expecting more of the "chocolate lady" who talked about what she used and why. However, if one is interested in learning about the restaurants and which one or which ones to try , then this is a great tour filled with information about the restaurants . When you finish the tour, you will want to spend more time in Seattle just going to the different restaurants that you have heard about.

I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it; if you're visiting for a few days do it as soon as you get to Seattle, you'll get good tips about places to eat; nice tastings - no lunch needed afterwards like you said; very interesting historic background of Seattle.

A Seattle Visit Must-Do!
Seattle Walking Food Tour of Belltown & Pike Place

Bronwyn, the guide for my tour, was early to the meeting site and obviously eager to show off the Belltown area. Her communication skills and sense of humor made for easy rapport, putting a group of strangers at ease for 2-plus hours. She was well informed and brought historic photos along to help us visualize changes which had occured in the Belltown district. Bronwyn included a List of the restaurants and eateries in the area, which proved extremely helpful during the rest of my stay. There were several locations offering samples, including fresh baked bread, clam chowder, chocolates and alder smoked salmon. Given the busy streets, construction zones and up-hill-down-hill terrain, it could be noisy and tiring. Good walking shoes and casual dress to match the outdoor conditions are a must. I made a point of selecting several of the restaurants from the list for lunches and suppers and was not disappointed with any of them. I will be keeping the List and using it the next time I visit Seattle. Or I can always take the tour again as a refresher!

Tasty tour of Seattle's best culinary secrets!
Seattle Walking Food Tour of Belltown & Pike Place

As a long-time Seattle resident, I had a wonderful time "playing tourist" and learning fascinating details about the city's rich culinary history. Bronwyn was an excellent guide; providing a great experience for a diverse blend of personalities while addressing individual dietary requests and interests with ease. I'd recommend this tour for locals and visitors alike, and for those who want a more intimate setting than is afforded by the large-bus tours that lack "personality." Oh, and the food is excellent too!

Bronwyn provided an extremely informed tour of Belltown and Pike's Place Market. Not only did she provide a delicious sampling of local food, but she detailed the history of each restaurant and part of town.

I went to Seattle to visit some friends for a few days in June. As I was doing my search for what to do in Seattle, I saw four companies doing “Food Tours” on Google. I couldn’t tell the differences from their websites but since I could only fit two food tours into my schedule, I did the Seattle Food Tours at Belltown & Pike Place Market, and the Savor Seattle Food Tours at Pike Place Market. These two tours are about 2 to 2.5 hours, around $40, and each group has about 16 people, but the style or the places they visit are very different. I have so much fun and I am sure you will too.

Having never been to Seattle, I wanted to see the local sights without sitting on a tour bus. While the focus of this tour is on local food and restaurants, my guide was very familiar with Seattle and its history and shared many interesting "tidbits" of information. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience Seattle in a very comfortable, relaxed setting.

We really enjoyed the tour and the food samples. It was a great introduction to Seattle restaurants for one of our group who will be spending the summer in the city, and for the others who will hopefully be visiting more often. The group leader was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about everything, and a very pleasant person to spend a few hours with. For food lovers like us, it was something we would certainly do again.
