Lots of Fun

The Segways are awesome and a lot of fun. As far as the tour goes, there wasn't much to it...couldn't ride along the canal as promised and the Island had an event going on during so we couldn't really go there either. Our guide seem to make up time by taking a long break over at Tredigar Iron Works-So as far as the tour itself-they need to do a much better job. We ended up waiting about 15 min for 2 people who were running late-so that also cut into our tour. Its a great idea and riding the Segways make it worthwhile though, they really are fun and are easy to learn and use. I will either just rent them next time or try out one of the other mini tours to see if it is better organized.

Enjoyable two hours. The segway was easy to manage and fun to ride... The historical portion of the tour was lacking, but the city sites and the other participants created enough entertainment....

Hi there --- this was a nice easy going tour.. great way to see some sites, segways are fun! Although the tour guide had details about the locations we visited she wasn't very direct. One of the people on our tour but not in our group was extremely erratic and was abusive towards the equipment - zooming by and trying to stop quick almost mimicking a weeble-wobble (fisherprice toy) and showed complete disregard for his safety and the safety of others. At one point he was zooming through / around cement poles in the ground and came so quickly around that he knocked over someone on my group to the ground and did't apologize and the tour guide didn't say anything. Had she been more direct up front when we were practicing and when he was exhibiting these behaviors before we started this collision would have been avoided. Thankfully no one was hurt.

I was trying to find a memorable activity to spend with my sister who was coming to visit me for a week. I surprised her with the Segway Richmond tour! She was so excited and so was I! We had Sarah as our tour guide, along with 3 others fun riders!. We were surprised how easy it was to learn to ride the Segway. A little practice, and away we went. We were able to maneuver our Segways through busy sidewalks and crossing roads. This was not a problem, and we are in our 50's!. We will remember this trip for a long time and I would highly recommend Segway of Richmond to anyone!

Our guide, Allison, arrived on time and was very knowledgeable about the sights and sounds of an old part of Richmond. We had a great time.

We did the tour in the pouring rain and we still had a blast. Tony, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and fun to be around. The guys in the store were just as pleasant. I would highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide taught us how to ride the Segway and was very gracious as we attempted to learn. He paced the tour nicely and was concerned about our comfort and safety. The length of the tour is just right and I think the price is fair. I loved getting around the city on the Segway and would recommend the tour. Our tour guide, while a nice young man, was not as well versed in Richmond history as I would have liked. There were a number of questions he could not answer. The question that stands out regarded a large statute of Henry Flood Byrd. We asked who Mr. Bird was. He did not know. Yet, I found out later that Mr. Byrd was a very important man in Virginia history.

This was a fun and informative trip. Our guides name was Tony and he did an excellent job. I wanted to experience riding a Segway because I am considering buying one in the near future. I have a handicap that limits my walking ability and I am not ready for a wheelchair. Now I need to decide if I want a normal Segway or one for off road. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. My wife and daughter both went on the Segway tour and they both enjoyed the tour. In conclusion ty it you will like it.

Fabulous Fun Day for Capital One

Capital One provides a certain amount of money each quarter for teams to do something together outside of Capital One. This quarter my team in Collections chose the Historic Richmond Segway Tour. This Segway tour was by far the most fun Fun Day I have been on in my eight years at Capital One.

Company Summer Outing, August 2008

As administrative assistant, it is my job to coordinate an activity for a company summer outing each year. Previously, we'd gone to a Braves game after a lunch nearby and we wanted to try something different this time. A fellow co-worker suggested a Segway tour of Richmond. After looking into it, we booked the tour without much hesitation, as several people in the office expressed great interest -- AND WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! The seven of us enjoyed the day so much, there has been talk of individuals returning with their friends & family members at a later date. In fact, our CEO who came to join us for the outing from Charlotte, NC sent me an email the following morning saying "it had been a long time since he'd felt like a kid again", which was a huge pat on the back for me. Overall, the day was so entertaining. The weather was perfect, the machines were easy to operate, the tour was informative, the guide was pleasant and extremely helpful -- A++! Thank you for providing us with lasting memories... --Kelsey Thayer, and the rest of the McNeary, Inc. Staff

Wanted a tour of Richmond on short notice -- made our reservation one night, toured the next morning. The fact that it was a Segway tour made it even more attractive -- a chance to try something new. The Segway was easy to learn and the tour was very interesting. In 2-1/2 hours, saw John Marshall House, the Valentine Museum and the Wickham House, White House of the Confederacy, the Egyptian Building, MCV area, Capital Square and the Bell Tower, Shockoe Slip, Canal Walk, Brown's Island, Tredegar. We saw more sights and locations than we could have if we were on foot (saw a group on a different tour walking through Richmond's July heat and felt slightly smug). And not confined to a car or motor coach, we could stop for pictures, read the historical markers, talk to other tourists, etc. The tour does have an historical bent, but then that 's what Richmond is known for. If you're not into history, the tour might not be as interesting. The Segways drew a lot of attention. Fortunately the tourguide had brochures to hand out, so we didn't have to stop. And riding the Segways was really fun. They're more maneuverable than they look and you have good control over speed, forward or backward, etc. Just need to be conservative on uneven street surfaces.

A great new experience; myself, wife, daughter and (future) son-in-law; very good way to get a taste of the downtown area and some of the significant buildings and historical places. Our tour guide was very cordial, and a lot of fun. On the slight downside, he really wasn't very well informed on the history or some other important details. None-the-less, he showed us a very good time (and we got to educate him a bit). I'll do this again in other cities and heartily recommend it to others.
