Rating: 4 Wonderful tour even in the rain!
  Wed, Apr 4, 07   10:00 AM Shopping2 Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Myself and a friend thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Our guide Molly was cheerful and enthusiastic despite the rain, and thoughtfully stopped off at a store where those of us without umbrellas could buy one cheaply. It was fascinating seeing inside the garment centre and if we travel to New York again then we will certainly be booking another trip.

I was overwhelmed with the thorough and professional manner of Mollie. She was completely charming, adorable and enthusiastic with our group and equally knowledgeable about the fashion business. Mollie brought us to sample sales that had amazing clothes and incredible prices - most importantly the sales were full of merchandise that was of great quality which meant great value. The best part of the tour was that there was something for everyone - whether you were young and wanted something a little daring and hip or older and wanted a little more conservative item. These were places that I would never have found on my own and I am so thankful for her guidance and mastery of the sample sale world...and hi to the ladies on my tour who were so much fun!!
Rating: 4 A fun and different side of New York

Our leader, Molly, was terrific -- very accommodating, enthusiastic, and helpful. In this tour, you basically go around to whatever sample sales are on that day, so it's partly a matter of luck whether you will find great clothes for a bargain price. The smaller you are and the less specific your needs, the more chance you have of finding something. I just enjoyed seeing a small part of this world, even though I didn't buy much. You meet at M&J Trimmings, the biggest notions store I've ever seen, and for me, that alone made it worth doing. Have fun!

My friend and I were very glad that we took the tour. It was very interesting and entertaining. Marla did a great job of managing the group and keeping it interesting.

The Gotham Garment Center Insider Tour was fanatastic! Three hours flew by as we were introduced to designers and products at wholesale prices. It was helpful to get to know the fashion district for future trips and our guide was wonderful.
Rating: 1 Highly Do Not Recommend This Tour -- RIP OFF

Our tour guide, Marla, had NO fashion experience. We had 3 adults and 2 teenagers on the tour. Out of the 12 places listed we DID NOT go to all of them. One show room was closed. You saw selected "designer" names unrecognizable. The H&M, DAFFY's, and Felines Basement Discount Designer Store, which we went to outside of the tour, were great bargains with alot of designer merchandise. TJMaxx Store and Marshall's Store in NC have merchandise from known designers that put this tour to shame and you do not pay a "rip off" fee of $65 each. One showcase "Marla" took us to gave us a discount of only 2 to 3 dollars. The merchandise shown was of "poor" quality. On show room had only a small rack of approximately 30 items available to look at. Another bathing suit store sold unrecognizable name suits beginning at $100 and no one in our group purchased anything there. This was a waste of $65 per person and the tour was not even complete. I am very disappointed that your agency sold us a bill of goods. Our time in NYC was valuable and your "advertisement" made it sound to a teenager researching the internet you had access to purchase top names at 50-80% below retail. I am still waiting to see that merchandise. I bought nothing, my girlfriend bought nothing, and my 13 year old purchased 1 pair of shoes, a top and a dress which were no big deal. I guess when you spend 3 hours running in and out of buildings you puchase something for no real reason. The "tour" guide acted guilty that we were not impressed as we tried on not 1 single item. I would say "WARNING WARNING RIP OFF OF A TOUR". Save your $65 each and go shopping at all the glorious discount stores and vintage shops open to the public. When we booked this tour I asked for feedback from your company. I was told that only "6" people had responded with good remarks. I also asked if any of these so called sample sales were open to the public? I was told no they were not. This is false information. We saw "signs" at some places on the street announcing "sample sales". We stayed at the"Westin" Hotel. I showed the Hotel the information and they had never heard of your company or this tour. I will make sure it is not recommended at the hotel either. I am extremely disappointed and quite frankly feel a "refund" is in order. Again, we did not visit all the showrooms indicated by our not so knowledgeable tour guide. Most stores advertise "satisfaction guaranteed". Where do you stand behind this rip off tour????? FYI: My daughter purchased dresses valued at $450 for $50 at Daffy's Store. Great Place to Shop. She purchased designer Rock Port bluejeans valued at $200-$300 for $50 at Feline's Basement. Another great discount spot. Shop there my friends without any gimicks and a guarantee for your purchases. Brenda Morrison Charlotte, North Carolina

When I first booked the tour, I was not too sure if we would enjoy it. I have to admit it was one of the best parts of our vacation. Our guide was great and everyone was smiling at the end of the tour, despite the terrible weather. Even if you don't find something to purchase on the tour, which is nearly impossible, it is so interesting to learn about different designers and see what actually goes on in the world of fasion. I plan on booking another Shop Gotham tour for my next visit to New York, and I would recommend the Garment Center Tour in a heartbeat.

The tour captured the essence of the garment district and provided a good insight and interesting information. The tour visited about a dozen different venues and provided a wide variety of opportunities to try on and buy. There was no pressure from the guides or the hosts at the venues to buy anything. In addition lots of helpful fashion tips and anecdotes relating to the history of fashion added to the interest. My daughter and I enjoyed meeting the other people on the tour and the exchange of information and comparing of holiday notes. Both guides were excellent-charming and knowledgeable.
