Garment Center Insider Shopping Tour (For Women)

This is really fun and different. As long as I have lived here, I had no idea there was the opportunity to go into showrooms until an out-of-towner pointed this out to me (naturally). There were a total of 7 women on our tour, which felt energized, but not like cattle herding and the guide that day happened to be the company owner, Marla,. She was exceptionally skilled at making this a fun yet productive experience. She helped with choices, ensured that we had the chance to meet the designers who were in their showrooms that day. and kept it light-hearted. There was plenty to purchase at great value. I plan to send all my visiting guests and perhaps do this program again in another season.

This was my first visit to New York and wanted to go shopping but did not want to go by myself so I signed up for the shopping tour. We were taken to a variety of Designer shops that included purses, clothes, jewelry, coats, furs and scarves. The variety of shops we were taken to allowed me to purchase something in almost every store that I probably would never have accomplished in the amount of time we shopped if I had been on my own and the fact that we were able to save money was a plus. I purchased my first article of fur which I never imagined I would own. The only negative about the tour is that I wish we had spent more time in each store so that I could really browse without feeling rushed before we went on to the next store (I like to browse before making decisions on anything). Other than that, I would reommend the tour. Our guide was very helpful and informative. Thank you.

The first stop on the tour was excellent. After that, it was disappointing. I also expected info and history about the garment district but we weren't offered any.

I was very much looking for some great deals on this shopping trip of the Garment District! I found that the items were still costly for what I would normally pay for similar items. I don't usually shop at high end stores so normally paying $300 for a shirt and getting it for $90 is not much of deal to me. Our tour guide was friendly and so were the other bunch of girls on the tour! It was fun to meet designers of the bags/clothes/jewelry etc. but did not find many great deals! I would not take this tour again if ever in NYC

This was a great way to see fashion and meet local designers. They were so welcoming. Really enjoyed meeting other women in the group from all over. Tour guide was great, expectations met, another memorable New York experience.

I had a fun and interesting tour with Christina as my guide. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, leading our small group of three through showrooms and sample sales in the garment district. I got a gorgeous coat, a handbag, gifts, and far more clothing than I anticipated finding. At discounted or wholesale prices to boot. I'm wearing one outfit tonight, head to toe, for a special dinner. I will probably do the Soho NoLita tour with Christina next time I'm in New York. Go! You never know what you'll find!

Don't miss this great tour as you'll get great designer shopping at a bargain price.

A true shoponista would not like this tour, because as someone who shops all the time I was looking for a wow factor. Unfortunately I did not find it because the merchandise that were put out for sample sales look like something from a rummage sale. They looked old and look like someone returned them. I get it that they may have been last seasons but who wants to shop for something that the majority of the public did not want or not deemed very fashionable. Also the sizes were so limited. Most of the ladies in our group were size 8 to 14 and majority of the stuff were sizes 2-6. I recommend any traveler to stay away from this particular tour and maybe find someone who lives in NY and take you around or venture out on your own to the most fashionable spots (e.g. Soho, Greenwich Village or Brooklyn). The money spent there would not be that much compared to the designer sample sales this tour offers.

Our group leader, Melanie, was charming. The other participants were from all over: Canada, California, Georgia, Florida, Australia, New Zealand . . . Everyone was friendly and chatty. At the places we visited the staff members were terrific. The items we viewed were wonderful, and value-priced. I would do this tour again. And again. And again. It's a different experience each time. Next time I'd like to see shoes, and maybe even more accessories. And even more handbags, and leather goods? I had a great time, and will be back.

From the moment our tour guide Gemma (sp?) introduced herself I was hooked. She was extremely knowledgeable on many aspects of the fashion world and had our blood pumping each time we entered a different showroom. She loved pointing out the "real" cost of the items we were buying had we purchased them in the store. I highly recommend this tour but advise you to bring lots of money as there are too many deals to turn down!! Thank you to Gemma and shop Gotham for a day I will not forget!!
