Guide was knowledgeable but found we passed up and down one street numerous times backtracking. There was a great sample sale we couldnt get in to. The samples are open to the public and advertised on the net. Would have thought paying a guide would get us access to better opportunities. Overall not worth the money. The first stsop was a jewelry stop-saw the same stuff in China Town for a fraction of the $$ felt like I was trapped in a rug store in Moracco. Would like a refund

I purchased a ticket to get a behind the scene's look into the Garment industry and I wasn't disappointed. Although the tour caters towards women and sample sales of women's clothing, there were sales for men's clothing as well. I highly recommend this tour to men and women alike.

Great designer clothing and jewelry to buy for the ladies. A complete bore for the men. If you're a male, you may want to skip this. However, my wife loved it.

| If you are curious to see what goes on behind closed doors in a designer's studio this is the tour for you. You get an inside look at where the clothes are designed and meet the designers in person. We visited about six different design studios, all with unique merchandise that is marketed to major retailers.
If you enjoy uniquely designed clothing, jackets, jewelery etc. you will appreciate this tour. You are provided a unique opportunity that is not available to the public to purchase these items at wholesale cost.
Our tour guide Christina was fun, friendly, and knowledgable not only about each designer, but also about NYC in general. She gave us great recommendations on where to eat, where to go out on a Friday night etc. We appreciated her help and thought she did a great job! |

My daughter is 23 and we were in NY for a girls trip. I wanted to experience the garment district and go bargin shopping at sample sales. We had so much fun and while not every stop had clothing that we were interested in, about half of them did. We bought lots of great things and got a real sense of that part of town. Our guide was very helpful and did everything she could to make it a great experience.

I had never taken a tour of any kind alone, but while my husband was in meetings I thought this seemed an interesting thing to do while in NYC. We went to 5 showrooms and 1 sample sale, each offering completely different items. I was ready for some spending, thought the selections were absolutely fabulous and walked away with a jacket, pair of pants, costume jewelry, 2 very cute tops and even a coat.. all at wholesale prices. Showrooms for the most part are not terribly glamerous, but who cares. We met a couple of the designers and that made us appreciate the goods even more and furthered the experience. The guide was wonderful! and imparted lots of tidbits including who was at the Bryant Park shows that day so that we could try to "sneak a peek" after the tour. If it helps any readers, our group was comprised of women in their 30's and 40's and 2 teens, and there seemed to be good selections at most places for everyone. A NYC experience worth trying!

We enjoyed our tour with ShopGotham. Our guide, Christina, was more than helpful and enthusiastic and even gave us ideas of places to visit and other shops to find in the city for good buys/specific things we were looking for. I was expecting a bit more of a "tour" than what we encountered. For the most part, the 5 stops we made were to shop off-the- rack designer items which were a bit short on sizes and selection as well. We were actually thinking we would be taking a tour of at least one or two designer offices and work sites but that really wasn't included at any of the stops. That would have been a nice complement to the shopping excursions.

The tour needs to better explain its content to potential customers. I believed that I would be visiting places that only knowledgable locals know about where discount designer and imported, quality woman's clothes would be available for sale. Instead, we basically saw Sweat Shops with extremely poor quality goods for sale.

I took my 16 year old daughter, who is interested in in a career as a Fashion Designer. I thought the tour helped to give her to a more realistic glimse of what a career in fashion might look like. Even though the showrooms lacked the glits and glammer that she is use to seeing on TV, she really enjoyed it. We both found a few bargins. However, I don't feel that the savings offset the cost of the tour. Samples ranged from $20 (scarfs) to $300 (high end winter coats). Although our guide was adequate, I would have preferred a guide that had more knowledge of the fashion industry. Overall though, I thought that the tour was worth while and suited our needs.
