| I had gone down to the NoLita area by myself this past summer, but I went back this time with my teen-age daughter, thinking she would enjoy it too. I learned so much more by going with Rebecca (the founder of Shop Gotham) -- she knew all the "inside" gossip about not only stores, but restaurants. GO!! |

| My mom, sister and I (all adults) took this tour on a busy Saturday. Hallie (sp?) was a terrific and friendly tour guide, adept and helping our group through the crowded streets. Even though we were a few minutes late, she was very accomodating to us.
We visited several fun places and got some details and history of the neighborhood. She was always careful to help us get our bearings and helpful answering questions. We had a group of about 10, which was a great size.
My only complaint would be that a few of the stores were not my taste, but you can't please everyone. The Pearl River Market was fun, and truly a Chinatown condensed, but the merchandise was nothing I hadn't seen a hundred times before. The Japanese chain store was just like a Gap or Banana Republic and probably not worthy of including on the tour, but just a 10 minute stop wasn't awful.
Overall, Hallie was great, the group was the perfect size, and we got a great overview of the area and some eclectic shops in just a few hours. I'd definitely do it again! |

| Our tour thru Soho was fun and informative.....guide was very knowledgable and friendly! The tour was just too short...other walking tours we have taken in NYC were three hours.

| We really enjoyed our morning with Hally. She was lively and informative just like shopping with a girlfiriend. She made lots of good suggestions of places to revisit which we did when we had more time. As two women from England we both were impressed by the areas we walked around and we were sure we would never have found the interesting shops if we had been wandering alone. Thanks it really was good fun. |

| Our lady who took us around proably needed more information upfront (the age of the participates, desires, etc...) upfront so that she could take us to places that we cuold shop. We were looking to buy but places taken didn't have our price points or either our sizes (some of us are not "toothpicks".) .....she definitely knew the neighborhood and shared the history and artictechure but the shops were not a "hit"...we enjoyed the places we walked by that "famous" people had shopped or eaten but we did want a little "token" to take home. Maybe there aren't shops in that area that have a "fuller figure" or welcome guests. Some of the shops seemd upset that we were walking through--but what do we know. She was pleasant. But we would only recommend if you asked more questons upfront so that the "buyer" could acutually buy something. Thanks |

| After making reservations online my friend and I showed up at the designated spot 12 minutes before the designated time. They were already gone and the clerks in the store where we were supposed to meet were unhelpful. We called Shop Gotham and 2 days later Joanne got in touch with us, apologized, explained the problem and refunded our money. She also told me she would send me an email map of where they had gone, which I have not received yet. They were very professional and I am just disappointed I was not able to go on this tour. I would definitely go on another tour the next time I am in New York. |

| Having read other reviews, I had high expectations of this tour. Firstly, Johanna - group leader- was late, as were several members of party. We were advised to arrive at 10.45am but we didn't start tour until 11.25am. I was surprised that the group was so large- 18 approx - little interaction between us. There was a family from out of state - Parents and 2 teenagers - mother and daughter from England, an extentended family from France including non English speakers, some friends of Johanna- our guide- and the rest of the group.
I felt that we spent too long in many shops- eg -" Mariebelle Chocolat "- a very small "top of the range" chocolate only shop. We could have all returned here later -if desired- instead of looking at chocolate bars for 20 minutes. The visit to "Rice to Riches" - a rice pudding bar was equally embarrasing - a 15 minute stop as we pretended to be interested in rice puddings - not really, Johanna!
As far as I remember, there were 5 other stops - all very near each other - 1. "Pearl River" - interesting -2. "So Good" - a great costume jewelry store - 3. "Zeba" - interior design - indifference expressed by most of group - 4." Find Outlet" - a very small shop with discounted prices but little of interest - more embarassment as we all walked out.
We visited"Anthropologie"- a big store which I had alredy heard of and finally we went to "Market NYC" where we saw some interesting accessories
The following day, I took a 3 hour food tour(Verve) and there was no comparison with value, information and time spent with guide.
I was certainly disappointed with shopping tour and felt short-changed - ie "give me my money back" - I spoke with several of the other shoppers afterwards and they were in total agreement!
