SoHo and NoLita Shopping Tour

I took the Soho/NoLita shopping tour on January 10th. The guide was very nice and helpful. She gave a lot of historical tidbits which I appreciated. Overall, I thought the tour was just OK and if you measure the success by purchases made by the group of seven women it wasn't very much. We only visited a handful of stores to be honest although we were given a list of stores that we could visit on our own which was useful. I did better on my own walking around the area. The cost of the tour wasn't too expensive so I don't think that money was lost.

Our group - two moms and their shopaholic teenage daughters - had a great time meandering through the streets of SoHo on one of the nicest fall days I can remember. Danielle, our guide, introduced us to some fabulous shops, the kind that out-of-towners like us would never have discovered on our own; the French jewelry and the awesome chocolate were standouts. Our daughters got to attend their first New York sample sale, and we were treated to bits of architectural and historical lore along the way. And when the tour ended (much too quickly!) we had learned enough about the neighbhorhood to do our own exploring and make some new finds ourselves,. Highly recommended!

Danielle was our guide. She was friendly and kept the group together. The overall experience was good; but time mangement needs work. We received a very plain map with locations honoring the discount card for that day. We only got to visit half of them. She did show us afew shops not on the list that were interesting. The map could be greatly improved with a description of the store's merchandise and cost average. It should point out all the long term shops, not just those with the discount. This type of tour would have been better as a question and answer meeting about all the SOHO shopping with a great map. Then everyone could venture out on their own.

Enjoyed the Soho shopping tour with my teenage daughter. The pace was brisk, but not too rushed. Definitely were shown shops that we would not have found on our own. Even though it is a group tour, the friendly guide shapes the 2 hours to the interests of the participants. Didn't feel pressured to buy anything.

Two daughters, a cousin and I were in NYC for a long weekend together. Decided to try your walk - have done lots of walks in London and Paris - and was very pleased. The guides were informative, adapative, interesting, fun, and enthusiastic. Have shoped the SoHo area on my own before, and never found all the great shops which you exposed us to. My daughters, who are obviously much younger, loved the variety, trendiness, and quality of all the stores. They are already planning more foreys into the streets of NYC and plan to take more of your walks. We'll watch your web site on the internet for new and interesting trips. Thanks!

I enjoyed the tour. It got us to Soho and showed us around the streets. There were a few shops that I enjoyed and returned to after the tour but a lot of the shops were of little interest to me. Also there was a group of women who felt the necessity to buy at each stop. Each shop was alotted about 10 minutes. Therefore we were always waiting for them. The guide, Molly was fine but as she dropped us off at our last location, she disappeared so quickly that I did not have an opportunity to tip her. For that I felt badly. I recommend the tour for newcomers to New York who feel unsure of being independently adventurous. It was a cofortable way to prowl the streets of Soho and do great window shopping. It should be stated at the beginning of the tour that purchases should be made after the tour so as not to hold up the entire group.

This Shopping tour was a great way to become familiar with the SoHo area as well as surrounding areas. We were taken to some really neat places. Our tour guide Molly was very personable and knowledgeable. I highly recommend the tour.

My daughter and I had a great time shopping Soho and Nolita and were introduced to stores that we probably wouldn't have found or gone into on our own. We can't wait to go back. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to New York. We had a fun morning and our tour guide Hallie was terrific and very informative..

We had a great shopping trip with Hallie. I brought my 15 year old granddaughter and she enjoyed all of the SoHo shops. I don't think we would have discovered the shops on our own. We had a nice lunch in NoLita at a restaurant recommended by our guide and then continued to shop. I would certainly encourage others to take this tour.

After making reservations online my friend and I showed up at the designated spot 12 minutes before the designated time. They were already gone and the clerks in the store where we were supposed to meet were unhelpful. We called Shop Gotham and 2 days later Joanne got in touch with us, apologized, explained the problem and refunded our money. She also told me she would send me an email map of where they had gone, which I have not received yet. They were very professional and I am just disappointed I was not able to go on this tour. I would definitely go on another tour the next time I am in New York.
