| We boked this online and that went as planned. We missed the call stating that the boat would be leaving from a different location which isn't such a big deal; there was plenty of time to get to the alternate launch site.
One thing: Parking. If the boat leaves from the alternate site, you'll need 4 hours worth of quarters for parking. All the spaces at the alternate site require payment. Vouchers or a window sticker of sorts would be nice.
The boat left within minutes of the scheduled time and the safety briefing was conducted by a pleasant deck hand. We stopped in the inner bay and watched a few sea otters sleeping in their kelp beds. One woke up and was quite playful.
We then headed to the outer bay and sought whales. The boat is steady and it seems the morning schedule is the best one to take although it might be warmer for the afternoon cruise. Take that into consideration if you bring children.
We found humpback whales and the skipper proceeded to explain quite a bit of information about them. The crew is very appreciative of the nautural beauty and their responsibility in helping maintain a safe haven for these wonderful creatures. There are very good picture taking opportunities.
As we began the return run I happened to start a conversation with the deck hand and whatt a nice guy he is. Lots if good stories about his times with the boat and his other experiences. On many chater type boats, some of the crew are what you'd call "salty" but this crew was very friendly, open and made the trip real nice. I'd take this trip again.
I highly recomment this trip for anyone wanting to see whales. It is just enough time to make a nice day of things without making you wish it was over. Perfect.
Some hints: While it doesn't get cold, make sure you have something to break the wind. Wear a hat with something to keep it on your head. Don't bother with bringing something to drink or eat because the prices on the boat are much better than in town and less than going to a store. The coffee was real good and the conversation made it all that much better.
Take this trip. |

| We had a fun work team event.
Good opportunity to interact with each other in a completely different setting from work. And of course great fun watching the whales. |

| I had a wonderful experience with this tour! I don't know if every tour gets to see as much as I did, but as soon as we left the dock, there were porpoise and sea lion sightings! After getting further off shore, the amount of whales we saw were unbelievable! We followed several pods and got really close to some...so close we could smell their breath! One came up right next to the boat and surprised us all :) We were able to several tails, one pectoral fin showing, and even a breach in the distance. Overall, i highly recommend this trip to anyone who can appreciate the beauty of nature. |

| The trip was well narrated, the personnel knowledgeable about the different species of whales frequenting the Monterey Bay area, their behaviour pattern etc. We did see quite a number of whales, though never very close, but this is not in the responsibility of the crew. |

| We saw humpbacks, a blue whale, and an entire family of Killer Whales. Not to mention we saw huge jelly fish and other animals. Drinks and food available on the very large boat. |

| It has been a life long wish of mine to see whales in their natural habitat and this trip achieved that for me!! We were warned that we might not see any whales but in the end we saw several and some came up really close to the boat! It was amazing! The staff were very friendly, informative and helpful and I would definately recommend this trip to anybody!! |
