Whale Watching Trip on Monterey Bay

More whales than I could count! Enough said!

The boat was comfortable for the size of the guests aboard, and the captain and naturalist did a great job of positioning the boat and explaining what we were seeing. It wasn't long before we all new how to differentiate a Humpback from a Blue whale!

Our guides were fun and interesting. They took us right to the whales, and the animals were very interactive this day, feeding at the surface. Whales came very close to the boat and we got some great pictures. Do take advantage of the motion sickness medicine that you can buy on board -- a couple of people got sick and it was a sad thing to see because everybody else was having a great time!

My family loved this. We tracked two whales for a good portion of the trip and we saw probably 3 or 4 other whales by the end of the trip. My four year old loved having a front row seat to these amazing animals. The two we tracked came up right next to the boat more than once. It was so exciting! The crew was great and the naturalist on board made the experience wonderful and educational for all. I would highly recommend this trip.

This was my second trip out. I brought my daughter and two nieces along this time and we had a blast. We saw two different types of whales (humpbacks and fin) and 3 different types of dolphins the dolphins swam under the sturn of the boat the girls thought that was awesome. The naturalists on the boat answered any questions we had. If anyone is looking for a great whale watching trip I would highly recommend Stagnaro Charter Boats for a great experience.

Went out a ways (8-10 miles), then saw a cow/calf pair which we followed for a bit. They eventually breached for the boat at close range, which was a real treat. Whales were all around us, you could see 10-12 spouts off in the distance so they were in the right area. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful and courteous, boat was not luxurious but we were there to see whales, not be pampered. My son was excited to see these beautiful creatures so close.

First it should be noted that I turn out to be one of those people who get seasick in calm water, and my kids weren't much better. But the staff were very understanding and kind about it. I don't think I would take a 9yo and a 6yo out again, and I certainly wouldn't go again myself unless I'd taken a ton or so of Dramamine. That said, we saw whales and plenty of them: spouts and dorsal ridges. Magnificent. We also saw California and Steller's sea lions and spent some time watching the sea otters play in the bay. The staff were knowledgeable but also very respectful of the animals. Worth it, despite the seasickness...

Saw an otter before we even pulled out of the harbor! The captain made sure everyone had enough time to view all the wildlife we encountered each step of the way before moving on. Saw quite a few dolphins. Thought we weren't going to see any whales this trip, but towards the end of the tour they appeared and kept appearing! They moved much closer to the boat than I had expected. Loved that! Even if we hadn't seen any whales that day, the full-speed boat ride was a blast....head towards the front of the boat for a GREAT RIDE :)

very nice afternoon boatride was wonderful saw a sea otter before even left the docks saw risso dolphines and 4 grey whales and black albatross the crew were very nice and took all the time to answer questions and they were funny and smart i will do this again
