The trip was well narrated, the personnel knowledgeable about the different species of whales frequenting the Monterey Bay area, their behaviour pattern etc. We did see quite a number of whales, though never very close, but this is not in the responsibility of the crew.

We saw humpbacks, a blue whale, and an entire family of Killer Whales. Not to mention we saw huge jelly fish and other animals. Drinks and food available on the very large boat.

It has been a life long wish of mine to see whales in their natural habitat and this trip achieved that for me!! We were warned that we might not see any whales but in the end we saw several and some came up really close to the boat! It was amazing! The staff were very friendly, informative and helpful and I would definately recommend this trip to anybody!!

Good job, Skipper!

We saw so many whales I can't even count that high. The whales were as close as I've ever seen after several whale watching trips. That takes an experienced Captain to know how to find the whales and then to position the boat so the whales are the ones to decide how close our encounter will be. They just came right up to the boat. Amazing and thrilling.

me and my son really enjoyed the whale watching trip - having had the chance to see several humpback whales close to the boat!

Although the Monterey Bay was calm, the sea became rough as we neared the "canyon" looking for humpback whales. Several persons became sick during the trip. The captain did a great job finding the whales.

Stagnaro Brothers KNOW Whale Watching!
Mon, Aug 11, 08   10:00 AM skarbaf Female 40-49 Local Family With Children
This is the third time I've taken friends and family members visiting the Bay Area on a Stagnaro Brothers Whale Watching Tour. This outing was fantastic. We saw at least five Humpbacks. Our captain instinctively knew where to position the boat so that we we could see the whales when they surfaced. The crew was knowledgeable about other sea life we encountered.

We had a GREAT time!

My partner was skeptical at first about seeing whales. We were pleasantly surprised! I've lived here for 12 years and this was my first time out whale watching, but I will definately go back! We've been telling frineds and family about it since Sunday. Though we thought ahead and took our Dramamine, I might suggest that you either include it as a recommendation on your web-site, or offer it at the wharf when folks come to get on the boat. I saw the green faces of the unlucky ones and felt bad that they were not enjoying the wonderful wildlife our bay has to offer. Thank you so much!

A Great Experience

For starters, being a local, I knew what to expect weather wise. Fog in the morning, along with a chill; clearing in the afternoon. If you're not used to Santa Cruz weather, dress in layers. A jacket is best for the ride out into the bay; a light windbreaker for the trip back! For my fellow Scandinavians, or others with blue eyes and fair skin, bring along a sunscreen, even on light foggy days. Having lived in Santa Cruz for over 40 years, I forgot this basic rule and my face paid for it! On this type of trip, you must be patient! Unlike Seaworld, these whales, dolphins, sea otters and sea lions are not trained to perform for humans. You are a guest in their world and they will do what they want, when they want to! We didn't see whales until almost Moss Landing area. It was well worth the wait. A pod of four whales put on a show for us, with plenty of chances to take photos of their tails, blowhole sprays, and their bodies gliding through the water. Being disabled, I found the ship to be comfortable. When my disability required I sit, I had a choice of sitting indoors or outside on several ledges. The skipper and deckhand made this trip a delight. I forget the kid's name, but the deckhand made it a point to engage every guest in a converstation, leaving no one out! He also made it a point to state that the only dumb question is the one not asked! I liked that! From what I could see, this put everyone at ease and made it easy for total strangers to interact. I can't wait to take this trip again. Do yourself a favor and give this trip a try! You won't regret it. P.S.....DON'T FORGET TO TIP YOUR DECKHAND! Much like a tour guide, he runs around and works hard to give you a wonderful and informative trip. Don't be shy and show your appreciation!!!!!!
