Not To Be Missed Experience

| This was my fifth trip whale watching with Stagnaros and I loved it. Even though the sun refused to show itself, we were treated to a brief sighting of some orcas, followed by dolphins and finally, a pair of humpback whales. Even though these whales didn't grant me a fluke shot, I still enjoyed watching them feed and swim close to the boat. I'm looking forward to next Saturday and yet another adventure aboard the Velosity. My sincere thanks to the skipper and crew of Velocity and all the people associated withe these tours. You couldn't ask for a better crew! | ||||||

| My family and I enjoyed this cruise very much. The crew was attentive, knowledgeable and did not rush the event at all. The ocean mammals made a great showing, both the large and the small. The boat was clean and clearly well cared for... thanks for the great experience. | ||||||

| Great crew and a good experience other than the rough waters, which was obviously not the crew's fault. They went out of their way to give us the opportunity to see whales even though we had seen many dolphins and otters, and time was running short. Thanks for going the extra mile. | ||||||

| The team at Stagnaro's made the trip just great. Lots of information about the Monterey Bay and sea life and they really tried hard to look for whales for us. We were able to see lots of Killer Whales! Thumbs Up. | ||||||

A Great Experience

| For starters, being a local, I knew what to expect weather wise. Fog in the morning, along with a chill; clearing in the afternoon. If you're not used to Santa Cruz weather, dress in layers. A jacket is best for the ride out into the bay; a light windbreaker for the trip back! For my fellow Scandinavians, or others with blue eyes and fair skin, bring along a sunscreen, even on light foggy days. Having lived in Santa Cruz for over 40 years, I forgot this basic rule and my face paid for it! On this type of trip, you must be patient! Unlike Seaworld, these whales, dolphins, sea otters and sea lions are not trained to perform for humans. You are a guest in their world and they will do what they want, when they want to! We didn't see whales until almost Moss Landing area. It was well worth the wait. A pod of four whales put on a show for us, with plenty of chances to take photos of their tails, blowhole sprays, and their bodies gliding through the water. Being disabled, I found the ship to be comfortable. When my disability required I sit, I had a choice of sitting indoors or outside on several ledges. The skipper and deckhand made this trip a delight. I forget the kid's name, but the deckhand made it a point to engage every guest in a converstation, leaving no one out! He also made it a point to state that the only dumb question is the one not asked! I liked that! From what I could see, this put everyone at ease and made it easy for total strangers to interact. I can't wait to take this trip again. Do yourself a favor and give this trip a try! You won't regret it. P.S.....DON'T FORGET TO TIP YOUR DECKHAND! Much like a tour guide, he runs around and works hard to give you a wonderful and informative trip. Don't be shy and show your appreciation!!!!!! | ||||||

| I enjoyed this trip from the beginning to the end. Some folks had hard time getting over sea sick. It would have been nicer if the boat were larger. | ||||||

| The whole experience was wonderful. The boat Captain and his assistant DJ were both very friendly and knowledgeable. The boat was clean and comfortable. The next time I visit Santa Cruz, I will definately take another trip with them. | ||||||

| It was a foggy morning and choppy at sea but we soldiered on valiantly. We eventually saw a Blue Whale and then 2 Hump Backs.....It was pretty amazing but we were all willing the tails to raise up high, we didnt see much of the mammals as they were feeding. This is not a complaint, these creatures dont play to order. The high light for me was the dolphin, plenty of them and they bounced about as dolphin do! The Sea Otters were lovely although we didnt get an up close view. My son took lots of photos (Thank goodness for digital cameras) Ive not seen them yet. He was impressed but very sea sick on the way back to shore. (quite a few people were) It was choppy out there and we did race back as we'd spent qquite a lot of tiime looking for whales. When we disembarked there werre a feew people wondering how good the trip was. Sam showed them some of his best shots of the Whales and I think they went ahead and booked The staff were helpful, curtious and knowledgeable. Thankyou Jayne & Sam Confino | ||||||

| We would heartily recommend a trip with Stagnaros- friendly, informative, relaxed, laid-back 'go-where-the-whales-go' attitude (we came back an hour later than planned because of this, so true value for money). If wondering who to book a trip with go with these guys they're ace : ) | ||||||

| What fun! We joined my brother and his wife for a delightful cruise as a celebration of our 33rd wedding anniversary - and my first trip to the West Coast. Parking was easy and inexpensive. Once parked, picking up our tickets was EASY! While waiting for the Velocity, we watched a cute group of sea lions at the pier. The cruise left the pier at exactly 10:00... we saw sea otters and some surfers. Then we rode quite a distance and found not only a humpback whale but also a pod of risso dolphins... and more sea lions! Refreshments on the boat were very reasonably priced - drinks, snacks, and sandwiches. The crew were very friendly and informative. How would I rate this experience? Speaking as a teacher, I give them an A+ ! | ||||||

| My son and I had a marvelous trip. Fortunatly the boat was not filled to capacity. We had a crew that was very informative and easy to get along with. The captain was a fountain of information on the Whales as well as the Monterey Bay in general. He informed us of the size of the Canyon that is very deep and the different species that might be found there. We had the hamburger and cheeseburger with bacon and they were fantastic. We loved it so much we have booked the Twilight fishing trip this Saturday 6/6/09. Thanks to all you help run this operation. | ||||||

| I was very disappointed in the information beforehand. When we arrived at the parking area we found that we could park on the next block without having to bring $5 in quarters and feed the meters. I don't understand why the whale watch company couldn't have told us that. A number of passengers myself included became quite seasick. Why couldn't we have been informed that dramamine or a patch would be suggested before we came on board? On the positive side (my wife appreciated the effort although it almost got her seasick) the captain made a very strong effort to find sealife to view. My wife really enjoyed the various animals she saw. The captain stayed out an extra-long time and went out of his way to do this. (Those of us with our eyes closed didn't get to see much. I guess I would recommend the tour to people with the warning about the water. | ||||||
