A great outing for our work team
Fri, Jul 9  2:00 PM campbbr1 Male 50-59 Combination Other
Our work team chose this walk-around and dining event over the typical trip to a restaurant together, and what a difference. Walking the streets with one another in a casual setting, listening to history and local culture together and sharing our impressions with one another -- so much better than the usual event of sitting around a too-large table in an uninteresting locale. Susan's deep knowledge of the area and her relationships with the local vendors and business owners were real assets and made us feel we were getting an "insiders" tour. I wish I had this opportunity in other cities I visit on business.

The Arthur Avenue Walkabout was a fantastic tour of this historic avenue in the Bronx. Susansez was a knowledgeable and fun tour guide, who was able to choose great spots for us to taste authentic and delicious Italian food. I highly recommend this walkabout!

Susan lead us to one culinary treat/adventure after another. We had a glimps of many cultures in this short trip. Obviously, she put a lot of planning into our three hours. Please give her our thanks.

My only complaint was no time for lunch. We left NJ at 8:30, the tour started at 10:30 and ended 4 hours later --- too much time without sitting down for lunch or cold drink. All we needed was 15 minutes to 1/2 hour. Enjoyed going to out-of-way yarn stores.

We had a great time and were introduced to places we most likely would never have found on our own. A fun and very worthwhile adventure.

This was a tasty tour. I have wanted to do this on previous visits but wasn't confident enough to go myself. Susan was very knowledgeable and fun to be around. I also met interesting people on the tour.

The tour guide was informative and pleasant and the tour was well coordinated with stops and tastings at various locations in the neighborhood. The cheese demonstration was entertaining and informative. Well worth it!

A great way to see the city
Fri, Jun 11  10:30 AM vbradley Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We thoroughly enjoyed this knitting tour. I think I bought something at every place except one. Not only was it fun to see different kinds of knitting shops it was a great way to get oriented to the city. We found a few food and shopping places we returned to that added more fun to our girls weekend.

We had a great time on Sunday together with Susan - she's a very nice and outgoing person and knows lots of background stories about the neighbourhood. Time really flew by as we walked Lower East Side and discovered different food styles and design hotels. Loved the pretzels, dumplings and donuts :-) It's a great way to explore a part of the city. For sure we'll book another neighbourhood walk at our next NYC visit!

Knit One, Walk a Lot
Thu, Apr 15  10:30 AM BroadwayGal Female 60-69 Local Group of Friends
Our group meets weekly for knitting and yaking. The stores we went to were truly amazing - none of us would ever have found most of these stores on our own. I would definately go back to at least two of them. The shop owners were friendly and enthusiastic about having us inundate their shops and took time to discuss various yarns and projects. My only complaint was we weren't told before hand that their were no stops for lunch. We met at 10:30 and didn't finish till almost 3:30 - that's major hunger and although Susan provided water and health bars it wasn't enough. We all would have brought something more substantial to nosh on had we known. We all loved the idea of taking another tour and combining it with a knitting/crochet lesson or project. This tour is a well kept secret!

a paid shopping experience
Thu, Apr 15  10:30 AM florian Female 40-49 Local Group of Friends
the knitting crawl turned into a tour which didn't do more than just pointing out some knitting stores in Manhattan. The owners of the stores didn't know about the tour or didn't added any extra value to the tour. (no discounts and/or info about yarns). The tour guide could and should have done her homework better : maybe a little workshop in the knitting store, or at least some small talk about the yarns, Even Habu, which provides great demos, was treated as a usual shop to go in and shop. conclusion, I invited 4 knitting friends for a $170 tour which only provided address of knitting stores. (Put together with a 2 minute internet research !) A personal yarn shopper would have been cheaper ! Very disappointing Flo

Thoroughly lovely day
Thu, Mar 18  10:30 AM dfernald Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
This was a wonderful tour, with unusual stores as part of the package. It was good to see unusual stores that were knitting related, but didn't offer the usual yarns one usually fines in other yarn shops. Our tour guide Susan was enthusiastic and attentive. She had good information regarding the sights along the way, and ensured everyone had a good time - to the extent she could. I would certain recommend this tour to any knitter visiting NYC!

Nibbling around in Astoria
Fri, Mar 12  11:00 AM k0466u Female 40-49 Local Individual
This tour provided an interesting glimpse of Astoria with its diverse ethnic neighbourhoods with yummy munchies at various points of walk. Susan gave informative talk about the areas, and provied a list of places I can check on my own. The weather was a bit damp but I still enjoyed the tour. It is always fun to discover places I don't know much about, despite having been living in NY for more than 15 years.....
