| Susan was very personable and knowledgeable. She was very familiar with the tour area and able to provide information and stories relating to the neighborhood that extended beyond the food. The food samples were ample and delicious. Would highly recommend the tour to anyone considering it and will definitely suggest it to anyone making the trip to NYC. | ||||||

Disappointed/impressed with all other tours taken

| The guide picked us up at the Grand Central Station in the city where the tour began. We took the Northern train to The Bronx. The walking tour itself was nice, had numerous stops and interesting to see the neighborhood. Our group was disappointed that at the end of the tour we weren't given a guide to get back to the train area. It was explained that some people wanted to visit the Bronx Zoo or the Bontanical Gardens while in the Bronx. This is ok but I still believe for the ones that did not want to do this should have been taken back to the area to catch the train. Our group is not "big city" people and was not comfortable with following verbal directions. Perhaps even a map given out at end of tour would have been better. We went to the Botanical Gardens and considered touring. We were not informed though that it was a twenty dollar charge. We had to ask three different cops/booth attendants to finally locate where we caught the train back to Grand Central Station. | ||||||

| The neighborhood markets takes you back in time where mom and pop places still thrive. The shops bustle with shoppers buying from third generation owners. The food is intriguing and delicious. You will see and taste the freshest products with an authentic Italian flair. I wish there were more neighborhoods like this one. This was a highlight of our trip. | ||||||

| I have wanted to see Arthur Av for quite some time. This was a great way to become acquainted with the neighborhood. Our tour-guide was very knowledgable about the area, and shared a lot of her insights. Our group was small with everyone very interested in every stop. This is only our second walking/eating tour in New York, but i am looking forward to many more. Thank You | ||||||

| Susan was very friendly and it was nice to be taken round by a local. The tasters were good - especially the cheese and I would definitely recommend the walk as a pleasant way to spend a morning. | ||||||

| The Arthur Avenue Walkabout with Susan was marvelous. Being my first real trip to NYC, I wanted to get a feel for the people who live there, not just the glitz. The stores, the people and the food were "delicious ". Susan was great fun and very considerate, thinking of all the details. I highly recommend walkabouts with Susan. | ||||||

| The tour we took was on a cloudy damp day but everyone's spirits were high as Susan gave an amazing tour. She was both knowledgable, interesting and committed to giving everyone the best tour possible. Not only did we receive the numerous "tastings" Sue listed on her site but many more from most of the other shops we stopped in. All the food was delicious and all the shop keepers were friendly and truly glad to answer any questions we had. The pace was very leisurely and actual ran well over the 2 hours noted on her site. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone . We were so impressed that we went home with a bag full of Italian "goodies" to share with family and friends !! | ||||||

| We met ebullient Susan on the street corner (where else but in NY). She gave us some materials to look at (mostly for later), a bottle of water and our first taste of NY - chicken jerky. Just 4 of us walked around lower East NY, as Susan pointed out buildings and sites along with its history. We stopped in neighborhood shops - old shops - that made us also step back in time. We sampled the goodies of the area; candy, soda, donuts, hotdogs. It was a very enjoyable tour...lots of fun. | ||||||

| This was my second tour with Susan. I had to bring a friend to experience the "Real Little Italy" of New York. The tour was so informative and interesting. The tastings were wonderful and generous. Thank you Susan! | ||||||

| The tour was just okay: lots of walking, not so much stopping, ran past its expected time limit (which was okay for me, but several had to leave before the end because of other plans.) The leader was well-versed, but allowed group to ramble and take their time so the pace was too slow for me. Also the area wasn't all that exciting. I probably best enjoyed the international origin of the group, with many from abroad. Good food, though! | ||||||

Genuine Italians in New York City!

| In the Bronx, not on the Lower East Side of Manhattan! This is a delightful, easily paced, intimate walk through the Arthur Street area--the Little Italy of the Bronx--a genuine neighborhood, not a tourist destination like Mulberry Street in Manhattan. You won't find "The Sopranos" here, just the everyday lifestyle of everyday people who happen to be Italian. One of my favorite stops was the "candy store" where the "village elders" gather around to solve the problems of the world--and where one of the matriarchs of the neighborhood will explain to you how she created egg creams--no eggs, no cream. And if you don't believe her, get ready to beat a hasty retreat--and no egg cream for you! | ||||||

| My friend and I totally enjoyed Susan and her tour. She is informative, down to earth, friendly, lots of energy. I plan on doing the rest of her tours as I return to the city over the next couple of years. I want to bring my daughter, also. The food was yummy and the vendors very pleasant. I would highly recommend this tour. | ||||||

| Our experience was great. A good time was had by all, including our 13 year old. We saw people in their element, doing what they do every day. It was a very interesting glimpse of a different way of living. We sampled a lot of wonderful food! | ||||||

| Had a delightful afternoon with a great group of people on and about Arthur Avenue, eating our way from one great establishment to another. I will definitely take my husband back as well as a large shopping sac to take home more goodies next time. Thought Arthur Avenue was as diverse, perhaps even nicer, as Little Italy in Manhattan. | ||||||

| Susan was informative and selected wonderful tastings that left us totally satiated. We enjoyed watching the cheesemaking demo and the tasting of the fresh mozarella, the garlic sundried tomatoes, the pizza and shopping in the "Little Italy". The history of the neighborhood was so interesting. I'm not sure we would have ventured out to "The Bronx" if not for the tour. Thank you Susan! | ||||||
