Just the three of us

| My sister and I were the only ones on the tour which we didn't know till we met at the designated location. It might have been nice if we had been informed or even given a choice to reschedule with a larger group. This situation had it's pros and cons. Pros: it was just us; cons: it might have been more fun with a larger group. All in all it was enjoyable but there weren't nearly as many tastings as on previous tours. When we got back to the Metro North station to return to Grand Central, the ticket we were provided with was for another line and we each had to pay $13.00 to purchase another ticket on the train. I don't know how the tour guide missed this; we took the same train back that we took to get there. | ||||||

| The guide picked us up at the Grand Central Station in the city where the tour began. We took the Northern train to The Bronx. The walking tour itself was nice, had numerous stops and interesting to see the neighborhood. Our group was disappointed that at the end of the tour we weren't given a guide to get back to the train area. It was explained that some people wanted to visit the Bronx Zoo or the Bontanical Gardens while in the Bronx. This is ok but I still believe for the ones that did not want to do this should have been taken back to the area to catch the train. Our group is not "big city" people and was not comfortable with following verbal directions. Perhaps even a map given out at end of tour would have been better. We went to the Botanical Gardens and considered touring. We were not informed though that it was a twenty dollar charge. We had to ask three different cops/booth attendants to finally locate where we caught the train back to Grand Central Station. | ||||||

| My friend and I totally enjoyed Susan and her tour. She is informative, down to earth, friendly, lots of energy. I plan on doing the rest of her tours as I return to the city over the next couple of years. I want to bring my daughter, also. The food was yummy and the vendors very pleasant. I would highly recommend this tour. | ||||||

| our group which consists of mothers and daughters (ages 35-40) have gone on walking tours for the past 4 years. we loved seeing the bronx, but felt this tour was a bit unorganized. we were not told that we would have to pay an additional $9 per person for the train ride (don't mind that but it should be included in the price; so make the whole deal more). and if you do not want to include it, then have the tickets already purchased for us and we can pay the person back right then. this tour did not have nearly as much food as the other ones we have been on. only one kind of pizza, instead of several to sample, etc. susan was very nice and we would like for her tours to be a success. we went into one pasta place where they make their own and cut it right there (thought we would be sampling the pasta) but it was if we wanted to buy some. then we got back to the train station too late for the next train and had to wait over 30 minutes. she needs to watch the time so the tour ends in time for the train. thank you | ||||||

| Susan was an excellent guide. Not only did she know the "ins and outs" of the city, she brought us to very cool, obscure knitting shops - places we would never have experienced on our own. Her knowledge of the city's history made the walks between stores interesting and fun. We finished the day happy, tired and much poorer for buying yarn for inspired projects. We would love go with her again and see some of the other shops on her list. (And my husband wants to eat his way through the Arthur Avenue Walk she organizes!) Would highly recommend this outing! | ||||||

| The tour we took was on a cloudy damp day but everyone's spirits were high as Susan gave an amazing tour. She was both knowledgable, interesting and committed to giving everyone the best tour possible. Not only did we receive the numerous "tastings" Sue listed on her site but many more from most of the other shops we stopped in. All the food was delicious and all the shop keepers were friendly and truly glad to answer any questions we had. The pace was very leisurely and actual ran well over the 2 hours noted on her site. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone . We were so impressed that we went home with a bag full of Italian "goodies" to share with family and friends !! | ||||||

| Susan provided an amazing morning for my group. Her insightful commentary, funny anecdotes, great local knowledge - not to mention her special relationship with all the key restaurants and vendors - made it a memorable outing. She will absolutely tailoring her stops and tastings to your special interests. Whether you're a local or an out-of-towner you'll enjoy this tour. | ||||||

| After having done a fantstic tour recently with Food Tours of New York, the tour leader being Todd who was outstanding, I pursuaded my son to do this tour with me, he is 29 years ol d and a buiseness professional. Well upon meeting the group, we were the only 2 amongst a lovely group of ladiies who were approximately by my guess all 80 years old, needless to say this tour became very long and so slow, believe it or not we were in little Itlay and of the few samples of food we had, not one was pasta. We would of enjoyed this much more doing the area alone. I felt as if the tour leader who knew this tour was coming should have thought about how slow this was going to be for others. We left before the end. I feel very sorry not to give this a good rating as Susan was so nice, but I could not even begin to compare it to my previous tour. I am not sure how this could have been prevented and a faster and more productive day gained | ||||||

| The neighborhood markets takes you back in time where mom and pop places still thrive. The shops bustle with shoppers buying from third generation owners. The food is intriguing and delicious. You will see and taste the freshest products with an authentic Italian flair. I wish there were more neighborhoods like this one. This was a highlight of our trip. | ||||||

| My wife, son and I really enjoyed our Arthur Avenue tour. Just meeting Susan in Grand Central paved the way to alot of fun, and she was a fantastic tour guide. We especially enjoyed the shops and the great tastes of Arthur Avenue. We would recommend the Artur Avenue tour with Susan Birnbaum to all. Enjoy!!! | ||||||

| The tour was just okay: lots of walking, not so much stopping, ran past its expected time limit (which was okay for me, but several had to leave before the end because of other plans.) The leader was well-versed, but allowed group to ramble and take their time so the pace was too slow for me. Also the area wasn't all that exciting. I probably best enjoyed the international origin of the group, with many from abroad. Good food, though! | ||||||

| We toured Arthur Avenue in the Bronx with Susan. We had a wonderful time. She was so informative and we loved stopping into the food shops and trying the wonderful samples. We had so much to eat that we were stuffed by the end and we discovered many new places to come back and try. Susan gave us lots of time and we were not hurried at all. We highly recommend the tour. | ||||||

| We met ebullient Susan on the street corner (where else but in NY). She gave us some materials to look at (mostly for later), a bottle of water and our first taste of NY - chicken jerky. Just 4 of us walked around lower East NY, as Susan pointed out buildings and sites along with its history. We stopped in neighborhood shops - old shops - that made us also step back in time. We sampled the goodies of the area; candy, soda, donuts, hotdogs. It was a very enjoyable tour...lots of fun. | ||||||

| The list of shops was nice to get. We visited three really nice shops (including one workshop--Habu--that was really special) and two that weren't that good. Susan is open to suggestions, so, if you have some specific wishes, let her know!. I was surprised that she apparent;ly hadn't visited some of the shops for awhile, since one was closed and one had very poor stock. | ||||||
