The tour guide really enjoys his job. He is very knowledgeable and answers questions fully, explaining and giving lots of insight into the various areas in Harlem. It was an eye opener to learn of all the famous persons who at one time or another lived in Harlem. The time was fully utilized and he went above and beyond the call of duty to fulfill our curiousity.
An excellent tour and job well done. CONGRATS and THANK YOU. |

This was a great tour, full of interesting details and quirky insights provided by our tour guide, Paul. We were accompanied by a few visiting jazz musicians who added their own details along the way. Not surprising, as Paul is a great friend to many jazz players around the world. And BBC Radio was along with us as well, gathering audio for one of their jazz shows. Despite the brisk weather we kept warm together and had a great time visiting the pretty streets of Greenwich Village, the hidden cafés and some of the chatty locals. |

An excellent tour! Paul Blair's guided walk through Greenwich Village is a treat for tourists and natives alike. Why wait to join your visiting out-of-town friends on a tour that will introduce you to the rich history of your own beloved city?? I live here, and learned much that will enhance my frequent walks through the neighborhood. A highlight was a visit to Chumleys on Bedford Street, the last surviving speakeasy in the country. |

We found the Brooklyn Tour by Zerve on internet after searching with the keyword "Brooklyn Bus Tour" and bought two tickets for my wife and myself. We waited at the specified location to catch the tour group assuming a tour bus should arrive any time but no one else seemed to be waiting for it, so when only a man on foot approached us at 10AM and introduced himself as the tour guide, we were quite surprised.
He told us that the tour is on foot and subway going around through several ethnic neighborhoods, despite that we had anticipated to visit museums and some jazz clubs. However, we soon realized he is a very well educated man and professional in journalism and music. Indeed, he is an editor of a very unique jazz magazine circulated in New York, named Hot House.
As we walked through various parts of Brooklyn, century old buildings and houses suddenly became interesting as he speaks of their history and recent events in the areas. In Parkslope areas, we learned that major residents are young professionals who have jobs in Manhattan. At one intersection in the area he mentioned that one of the planes collided in midair landed there in 1960. He showed us a newspaper clip that showed a photo of the plane landed at that intersection. The house behind the upside down plane, in the photo, was just in front of us. The other plane collided flew from Columbus, OH, where we live. The collision occurred just 50 years ago ( of two weeks after our tour in Brooklyn as we leaned this on a front page of our local news paper of December 14.).
One of other intriguing places was the Little Russia, where an old woman in a Russian scarf was selling used clothes, who looked just like a woman in a picture of Moscow. We entered a near-by glossary, where everybody was speaking in Russian.
Visiting Coney Island was another intriguing experience. Coney Island was once a very popular resort place, but it is being torn down now. Nonetheless he insisted to go there, and explained its history of once glorious days. Seemingly very boring old billboards above the closed old entertainment shacks became interesting as he explained how words on the billboard are spelled and what were there many years ago.
Of course he guided us in the business district, upscale shopping areas in Brooklyn and the water front from where Manhattan view was very good.
Over all, he did a good job in guiding and educating us about Brooklyn. I do not hesitate to recommend his guide to those who want to learn about Brooklyn. |

My wife and I have been in N.Y. before, with limited knowledge of Harlem. This tour brought us up to date on history, walking thru highlights of architectural beauty, all the while being fed with info about interesting people, not least those of the jazz heritage.

This was a wonderful tour. My friend and I saw it advertised three years ago, however, this year was the first time our annual weekend in NYC and the tour conincided. First and foremost I must say that we appreciate the fact that only the two of us and you did not cancel. It was a full 2 1/2 hours and our Tour Guide never made us feel rushed even though we realized there were onnly tow of us He provided us with so many details of the Jazz (our era) and when we had questions he went out of the way to show and answer all our questions. It was above ad beyond our expectations and we plan on taking two of Paul's other tours in the future. |

My sister and I took this tour of Brooklyn because we lived there as young children. Paul our guide was terrific. He took us to so many interesting neighborhoods. He was even willing to show us where we use to live. Since we were the only ones on the tour that day, he was able and more than willing to accommodate us. We can't say enough about Paul and his knowledge of the history of Brooklyn and it's numerous neighborhoods. If you decide to take this tour, it will be a wonderful experience. |
