Description

Tennessee Bites presents its Downtown Nashville Food Tasting Tour which starts in sight of the Country Music Hall of Fame and winds through Broadway to explore downtown Nashville's most historic streets and local eateries.  This is a tour that can be enjoyed by both natives to Nashville in addition to visitors looking for a fun and exciting way to see what the Music City really has to offer.

On this tour you'll learn about Nashville's most historic establishments and streets, while also sampling the local fair in some of the city's most deeply rooted restaurants. On your journey we will visit 6 local establishments including five restaurants in addition to a sweet shop that has a very interesting twist that matches up with the city's nickname.

Your 3-hour guided walking tour includes:
  • Tastes of authentic Southern favorites
  • Ethnic eats
  • Local flavors & Nashville favorites
  • Details, facts and fun information on Nashville happenings, history and music
All tastings are included in your ticket purchase and enough food is served that, for most participants, lunch afterward is not needed. The group will sample foods from all six tasting locations, but please note that food tastings are subject to change without notice.

We look forward to giving you a true "taste of Music City"!

What Is Not Included?

  • Water will be included at several tasting locations but sodas and alcoholic beverages are not included.  These may be purchased on your own at a few of the locations.
  • Tour guide gratuities are not included in the cost of your ticket but are greatly appreciated by your guides.

FAQs

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? Can I pay with cash?
Tickets must be purchased in advance, and tours often sell out quickly. In order to make sure you get the day and time you prefer, we recommend booking well in advance. Tickets can only be purchased with a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.
Are the Nashville Food Tours appropriate for children?
Our food tours have been developed for food and history lovers. While many younger children may love to hear stories and taste the cuisine, the tour is 3 hours long and some children have a limited attention span and therefore the tour may not be appropriate for some of them. Parents, who know their children best, should assess the situation on a case by case basis. Since there is a lot of standing and walking, please consider this when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for your child.
If I am bringing an infant/very young child, do I need to purchase a ticket for them?
If you are bringing children below the age of 7 and they will not be participating in the tastings, you do not need to purchase tickets for them. However, please do let us know if you will be attending with an infant or young child when you purchase tickets. Please note that strollers are not recommended on the tour due to the busy and narrow sidewalks.
Are the food tours given in bad weather?
Our tours are generally held rain or shine. In the event of rainy weather, we will do our best to spend as much time inside the establishments on the tour, so we will not be outside for the entire 3 hours. You should still dress appropriately for the day's weather conditions. Nashville can experience severe weather in the summer. In the event of extreme weather like lightning, Nashville Food Tours may need to cancel a tour and will notify guests so they can reschedule to another tour.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
Please let us know if anyone in your group has a dietary restriction (e.g. vegetarian, diabetic, gluten, etc.) or food allergy when you purchase your tickets. As long as we know well in advance, we can often accommodate your needs. If we do not find out about the special needs until the day of the tour, it is usually impossible for us to adjust in time to accommodate. Additionally, there are some tastings on the tour that are very difficult to replace depending on what each food shop offers (i.e., finding a substitution for a diabetic in a pastry shop can be challenging). We will always do our best to accommodate each person's needs.
How many restaurants will we visit on the tour?
We will visit 6 local establishments. Five of which cater to the savory side of your taste buds, while the final stop is a bit more on the sweet side.
How much food is offered on the tour?
There are 6 stops for food tastings on our tours. For most people there is enough food that a meal directly afterwards is not necessary.
Are there any drinks included on the tour?
Water will be available at the various tasting locations, but additional beverages such as soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are not included in ticket price. However, if you would like to order a drink other than water, the staff at the local establishments we are visiting can accommodate your needs.
How much walking is invloved? It is a fast paced tour?
While the tour is 3 hours long, we are at each of our 6 stops on tour for approximately 20 minutes. While we are sitting for a portion of the tour, we will be on a specific schedule and cover a lot of information while walking so we do walk at a moderate pace. We generally cover a total distance of approximately 1 mile so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
Do we only walk around and sample food?
Of course not! Our staff is dedicated to making sure you get a true "Taste of Music City." As we walk through Nashville's most interesting streets, the tour will be fully narrated by your guide, who will discuss the history, culture, architecture, entertainment offerings, and both on and off-the-beaten-path establishments.
How should I dress for a tour?
Please dress casual and wear comfortable shoes for walking, as we will be on our feet for a large part of the tour. We recommend checking the local weather before deciding on your tour attire and dressing appropriately for the different seasons in Nashville.
Where does the tour begin and end?
The tour ends just across the street from the starting location still in view of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Does this tour have anything to offer a native Nashvillian?
Definitely! Many of our attendees live right here in Nashville, and locals often attend to learn about the city in which they live.
Is the tour wheelchair and stroller accessible?
Unfortunately, we do not recommend wheelchairs or strollers on this tour because the tour route includes some busy and narrow sidewalks as well as a slight hill in one section. If you have further questions, please contact us by clicking on the “Contact TNBites” link on the left side of the page.
Are restrooms available during the tour?
Restrooms will be available at several of the tasting locations along the tour route.
Is there parking nearby the meeting point?
Yes, there is parking located near the meeting point. Specific parking details are included in the meeting location directions after purchasing tickets.
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Yes. Cameras and filming are allowed during the tour. We strongly encourage participants to take photos during the tour.
Can I shop on the tour?
We ask that you wait to shop until after the tour so that we can stay on schedule and continue with the informative tour and food tastings in a timely manner. Hopefully you will make time at the end of the tour to return to your favorite locations and/or stores.
Can I bring my dog on the tour?
Due to the various food establishments we visit, pets of any kind are not allowed on this tour.
Is gratuity included in the ticket cost? Does the tour leader accept gratuities?
No, gratuity is not included. Gratuities, although not mandatory, are greatly appreciated at the end of the tour.
Are gift certificates available?
Yes, gift certificates are available and make a great gift for family and friends. To purchase a gift certificate, please click on the "Contact TNBites" link to let us know what you are interested in.
Can I book a private tour?
Yes, Tennessee Bites can accommodate private groups for our Nashville Food Tours. To inquire about a private tour for your group, please contact us by clicking on the "Contact TNBites" link on the left side of the page.
