Activity Description
Experience the adventure of the Louisiana swamp on a boat cruise through the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary.
Journey through the bayou country with native Cajun guides who will share the wetlands' legends and lore.
This tour begins with a thirty minute van ride to Barataria, followed by a 45 minute visit to both Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve and the site of a Canary Islander/ "Isleno" settlement.
We will then board a pontoon boat for a tour of the swamp which will last for about 90 minutes.
On the swamp tour, view various native life forms, such as:
- Bald cypress trees
- Spanish moss
- Alligators
- Turtles
- Snakes
- Nutria
- Egrets
- Hawks
- Herons
- Owls
- Crawfish
Lastly, we will drive over the breathtaking Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and learn what is being done to rebuild and protect South Louisiana's disappearing wetlands before heading back to our original starting point.
