Activity Description
Join us for a sightseeing adventure of Downtown Raleigh’s historic neighborhoods and landmarks.

During our fully narrated Segway tour, you'll see:

  • Fayetteville Street: This "Main Street" of downtown Raleigh is the centerpiece of a multibillion-dollar revitalization.
  • North Carolina State Capitol: The 19th-century beauty is steeped in history and has been restored to its 1840 -1865 appearance.
  • Governor's Mansion: Built in 1891, the stately Queen-Anne style home was built with convict labor and serves as the official residence of North Carolina's governor.
  • Oakwood Historic District: The 19th-century neighborhood was Raleigh's first true "suburb" and is filled with lovely period homes.
  • Oakwood Cemetery: Founded in 1869, it's the final resting place of nearly 1,500 Confederate soldiers; the House of Memory pays tribute to North Carolinians who've served our country in times of conflict.
  • Mordecai Historic Park: Featuring Mordecai House (c. 1785/1826), this significant former plantation offers a glimpse into early life in Raleigh.
  • Moore Square: One of the original four "park" squares of the City plan, the park is now used for many city celebrations.
  • Historic City Market: Founded in 1914, it replaced the Raleigh market traditionally held on Fayetteville Street; making it Raleigh's first "shopping center."
