Activity Description
Join us for a Raleigh sightseeing tour through Historic Oakwood, a pretty downtown neighborhood filled with restored 19th-century homes in a variety of architectural styles. See where prominent city founders once lived and tour through Oakwood Cemetery, including an extended glide through its rolling, park-like grounds and a stroll in the Confederate Cemetery.

During our fully narrated Segway tour, you'll see:

  • Oakwood Historic District: The 19th-century neighborhood was Raleigh's first true "suburb" and is filled with lovely period homes.
  • Oakwood Cemetery: Founded in 1869, it's the final resting place of nearly 1,500 Confederate soldiers; the House of Memory pays tribute to North Carolinians who've served our country in times of conflict.
  • Governor's Mansion: Built in 1891, the stately Queen-Anne style home was built with convict labor and serves as the official residence of North Carolina's governor.
  • Moore Square: One of the original four "park" squares of the City plan, the park is now used for many city celebrations.
  • Historic City Market: Founded in 1914, it replaced the Raleigh market traditionally held on Fayetteville Street, making it Raleigh's first "shopping center."
Minimum rider age is 14 years old. Those who are 14-17 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Each rider must weigh between 100-260 pounds.
